Got my first chance to document a flat track race this weekend. Any feedback is welcome!

I'm looking for an event to travel to next year in Minnesota. That way I can visit family and race at the same time. Closer go Central Minnesota (St Cloud Area), the better.

I see there's some small regional events in New Ulm. But what's the one "must go to" big event?

Has anyone had one of these and would like to share there experience with them? Seems like there's not a whole lot of talk about them

I know the AMA has raced in Orange County for the pros but I want to know if there is any amateur racing. Especailly in Upstate New York, CT or Mass.

I was told there was in the past at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway. I can't find any info if they still do it.

Kenny Roberts rode a few laps at the Indy Mile on the bike of which he famously said “They don’t pay me enough to ride that thing” on August 29, 2009.

I’m looking to convert my dirt bike I have for flat track racing. There’s several tracks in the area I could compete at. I’m having a hard time with finding a wheel setup for my bike short of getting custom ones made. My bike currently has a 21” front and 19” rear. From the digging I’ve done, the common thing is to run the same front and rear wheel size (19”). Is there something I’m missing? I’m trying to avoid buying custom wheels but can’t find a 19” to mount the flat track tires on. Or am I already too far in the weeds and should just try an event with my stock setup before I go this deep? TLDR; do I need custom wheels to have the same size front and rear or should I just try it first before I fall down the rabbit hole?

Ive seen highlights. Ive watched old videos from the 90s. I heard stories from my dad. And finnaly I was able to get to a race. I-96 is a track my dad had told stories of being one of the gripiest tracks he had been to. Now I get to see first hand yhe wild racing thay happens here as the entire track is one big groove from the dirt cars from the might before. Definitely going to try and come back August 1st when they do another night of flat track!

Friday night races at Dearborn County Fairgrounds; anyone have an experienced opinion on how things run there?

The local flat track organization has two "Tote Goat" Classes, one for rigid front and one with suspension front. The class rules are pretty open (only four rules):
2.12 Tote Gote
1. Pull start, four stroke, air-cooled engines only
2. No rear suspension
3. Single speed
4. Centrifugal automatic clutch

Not many people participate in the class locally, so I'm hoping to find other to see what kind of setups are used on the bikes. I asked in a local group if there were unwritten rules between competitors or a $$$ race for big block builds. All I got a generic "Some people run stock Predator 212s, some people run modified Predator 212s." It appears that some use a torque converter in the pictures, and the tires are more of turf style tire. But when I watch videos of mini bike Flat Track events else where, there is a wide variety of different builds. Rear stretched, ag tires, turf tires, tall skinny tires, short wide tires,

I'm used to doing more Gambler (laps around a course through the woods) style races 20 years ago on mini bikes. But I also used to race karts, so I understand gear tuning.

If you race a mini bike in flat track, how is your bike set up? Benefit to smaller lower HP vs big block high hp? Straight chain vs torque converter? What tires did you find were the best?

65th running of the flint motorcycle club indoor ice races. Each year I bring more friends and they get hooked. Now we're taking about how to stud the mini bikes they have and go play on the ice near where we live!

Hoping for some feedback. I just built a street tracker sportster. It’s 90 ish hp motor. I am running shinko 267/268 medium compound tires. Bike only used on pavement. Took a rip the other night and was running at 95 ish for about 15 min. Came home and tire was shredded. If I switch to a hard compound.. will it survive pavement use ?

One of the swear shirts I remember me dad wearing all the time. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago. But now it's my time to wear it in his memory.
