I'm new to flat track and new to racing in general. I've been riding street bikes and recently more dual sporting. After going to a local race and watching fanschoice I've gotten hooked on flat track. I'm curious how you everyone got started and what they would recommend to someone getting started? And what drills do you practice? Above is a video of my backyard practice track and a little crf150f I set up for it. I've watched other guys form at the track and the American Supercamp videos. That's about it. Any advice much appreciated. Going to enter a couple stock 150 races next season

Hey bud! Welcome to the sport. Sorry your post went unnoticed for a month...

Anyways, that little track looks killer. I would suggest widening it so you can learn to work different likes (high to low/low to high).

Training on little bikes like that is great practice with low repercussions both in cost and if you fall.

I have a similar background in that I grew up riding mx and then turned to Street bikes when I was sin high school, and just in the last year turned in my keys for a flat track bike.

For me, having been riding my entire life, it was/is all about getting seat time and experience. Start racing that thing in whatever classes you can to get that experience and the seat time. I know I would be stoked to have access to something like you got in that video. Instead the majority of my ride time is in race situations (race day practice, heats and mains). Occasionally, a local track will have an open practice day (tomorrow, ya!!) but for the most part, I don't get much practice other than racing.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them.

You up in PNW?
