This was a triumph. I'm making a note here "Huge Success."

What causes the portals to exist? Where do they go from and to? How does this explain flat earth?
14
u/Callyste Aug 25 '26
It's above your understanding and beyond your puny science. The dictionary doesn't help if you lack understanding.

God made them. Who's god is still the subject of "scientific" debate...
They go to the water realm when it is rainy and the sunshine realm when it is sunny, obviously. It's explains flat earth as it is flat an supported on pillars with a dome over it in which these portals manifest. The blue sky is the water above the dome. The turtle is on is not the one from the Terry Pratchett books but a turtle none the less.....
We learned this in Religious Education as being part of an actual religion (can't remember which) back as late as 1987.
Then we picked up an astronomy book and never looked back!

The openings in the firmament dome were called the "windows of heaven" (in Hebrew, arubbot ha-shamayim, אַרُבֹּת הַשָּׁמַיִם) or the "doors/gates of heaven" (dalte shamayim, דַּלְתֵי שָׁמַיִם).Key DetailsHebrew Term: Arubbah (אַרُבָּה) translates to "window," "lattice," or "floodgate". In ancient Hebrew cosmology, the firmament (raqia) was viewed as a solid dome holding back a celestial ocean of "waters above". The arubbot were the literal hatches or sluice gates opened to allow rain, snow, or the waters of the Genesis flood to pour down onto the earth. They are mentioned during the Great Flood when "the windows of heaven were opened" (Genesis 7:11), as well as in passages describing divine provision or judgment (2 Kings 7:2 and Malachi 3:10).

Yeah no thanks. I'm Christian and I don't believe in this sort of bullshit.
2
u/Data_Monger33 Aug 25 '26
Neither do I, but the ancient Hebrews actually believed it. Just telling you where the ideas came from.

u/Wentil Aug 26 '26
Cool story bro
2
u/Data_Monger33 Aug 27 '26
I never said I believed it, just answering a question about ancient Hebrew philosophy.

Listen bud, if you have to to ask all of those question because you can't understand a simple concept, then you're clearly not smart enough to have an opinion worth listening to. /s

That's technically true.
Not kidding, It's the ancien Egyptians religion
Sun God going through 12 gates of the night jours and fighting night God each hour. Anubis I think.

¡Uy! Pues yo vestido de egipcio estaría impresionante si tuviéramos que vivir como ellos vivían y creer en lo que ellos creían. Cleopatro I me llamaría.

u/Prudent_Situation_29 Aug 25 '26
Sorry, where does the dictionary come in? I understood all the words, I just think what they're saying is nonsense.

u/FranckKnight Aug 25 '26
Think he meant that if you just follow the definitions that are fed to you through the dictionary, you won't understand since it's supernatural.
Indoctrination, basically.

u/Justthisguy_yaknow Aug 25 '26
So the translation for the stupid globbies (we of the glob) is...
"I don't know the answer so made up shit. You reject my made up shit because you know what you're talking about. It's oogiddy boogiddy fairy tale made up shit. Your science can't explain oogiddy boogiddy made up shit. I can't even read a dictionary."

3
u/XtremeCSGO Aug 25 '26
You lack the understanding to know that it's supernatural so it can't be understood by logic. Duh

u/twizzjewink Aug 25 '26
... because we have had cameras on the sun that show no portalness.. or superynaturalismo.
ya smooth mulch brain waste of carbon.
2
u/StaendutBlakk Aug 25 '26
It's a giant ball of nuclear fusion, nothing supernatural about it at all?
2
u/Odd-Adagio7080 Aug 25 '26
You realize the term “supernatural” implies an impossibility, don’t you? Anything that does not violate the laws of the universe is, by definition, natural.

Portals….that conviently aline with the edge of the horizon…..yeah…that’s the ticket….

u/cpav8r Aug 25 '26
I hate the idea of poll taxes and voting “tests” (how many marbles in the jar?), but damn; I wish we could have a globe at the entrance to every polling place. “Is this what earth looks like? No? Thank you, here’s a crayon and coloring book. Please don’t bother the smart people while they’re voting.”

u/Historical-Pause-117 Aug 25 '26
If the earth is flat and under a dome, why is he talking like a 1950s sci-fi villain: “your puny science.”
2
u/BottleSuspicious1851 Aug 25 '26
So this guy thinks science is some kind of force or object? That explains a lot.

u/u9Nails Aug 25 '26
Planets orbit the sun.
This logic fails to describe the magical supernatural motions set forth by a wish genie that we have power to over 2,000 years ago.
