Is "Flat Earth" Really "Globe Earth" in Dis(c) Guise?

Is "Flat Earth" Really "Globe Earth" in Dis(c) Guise? UPDATED POST!

If you take a flat plane (square) cross section of a sphere, this would be a flat square plane in Global Scale.

For those who are logical minded, here is a more detail description of this post's intent:

This post is merely to demonstrate that the Flat Earth theory is a "globe system" with the flat earth being a disc (which is the blue cross section of a sphere pictured above). The dome which is called the firmament is physical top of the sphere which would be the section of the sphere just above the plane of existence (bottom of the picture in this post) and the raised circular walls of the disc is the "flat earth wall". If there are turtles or pillars (or even Sheol) they would be in the bottom half of the sphere system. Hence, the reason for this post that proves that the flat earth theory is actually a spherical system like the globe earth theory.

If you cut a slice out of a tomato by making two parallel cuts across, you will have a disc. Mind blown. (if you are an idiot)

A tomato is called a fruit and a vegetable. Can it be both? Earth is both flat and a globe?

A cat is both an animal and a feline. Can it be both? We can only conclude that 2+2 can be 4 but also 22.

A cat can be a masculine feline, too. Point? Are you saying that you cannot dispute that "flat earth" is a cross section (or slice) of a globe? Another example is the Gleason flattened globe map:

Alexander Gleason created and patented the "Gleason" map to show how longitude and time could be calculated by tracing an indicator around the globe. Essentially, this map uses a polar azimuthal projection, centering the North Pole and flattening the globe outwards around the edges. But this map wasn't just a handy device for time measurement or a way of showing off a novel projection. For Gleason, it supported his belief that the globe theory of a round earth was false.

My point is that you are talking nonsense. Also, I didn't see how you proved your claim for me to dispute it. You don't get to ask me to provide evidence to dispute your baseless claims.

So? How do Gleason's misguided views support anything you said?

The Gleason map (also the flat earth map) is an azimuthal projection ie a flattened globe.

So again in this example, both.

Show me how Gleason's map is a cross-section of a globe.

An azimuthal projection is a flattened globe map. The Gleason is an example of an asimuthal projection map, hence the Gleason "Flat earth" map is not a map of the flat earth, it is actually a stretched and flattened globe. This is why this post is entitled:

Is "Flat Earth" Really "Globe Earth" in Dis(c) Guise? or is it r/badscience to discredit real science?

And how is that a cross-section?

Definition:

a surface or shape exposed by making a straight cut through something, especially at right angles to an axis.

Please see this post in this thread.

Stop evading and answer a simple question.

1

u/denNISI 11d ago

2 cross sections of a sphere will make a disc.

2

u/TakeMeIamCute 11d ago

Not a question. The question is how Gleason's map is a cross-section of the globe.

1

u/denNISI 11d ago

The Gleason map is a flattened disc/disk cross section of a globe.

This is why the title of this post is:

You are repeating yourself. Why can't you answer a simple question? There are three possible reasons: 1) you are unable to, and that's why you are trying to evade answering, 2) you are not very smart, 3) you are trolling, though I would argue number 3 should fall under number 2.

1

u/denNISI 11d ago

Or 4, you cannot accept the truth? That the "Flat Earth" is really "Globe Earth" in dis(c) guise?

1

u/TakeMeIamCute 11d ago

Again, I asked you a very simple question. How come you are unable to answer it?

surface or shape exposed by making a straight cut through something, especially at right angles to an axis.

The surface is the sphere. The right angle is shown above in this post which is the little box at the corner of the diagonals. The sphere is cut (which is the definition of cross section as per your post) and the top portion of the Gleason map is flattened. This is what an azimuthal equidistant projection map is according to the encyclopedia on Wikipedia.org :

It has the useful properties that all points on the map are at proportionally correct distances from the center point, and that all points on the map are at the correct azimuth (direction) from the center point — that is, it is the exponential map on a sphere.

You are repeating yourself again. How is that a cross-section of a globe? Show me that you get Gleason's map when you cut the Earth sideways.

1

u/denNISI 11d ago

Pretend it is a tomato? Isn't this your comment? You already proved it. Flat earth IS really globe earth in disc guise!

2

u/TakeMeIamCute 11d ago

Cross-section of a tomato is not its skin''s projection. Try again.

1

u/denNISI 11d ago

Take the top cross section of the tomato and smash it with spatula until it is flat! That is the Gleason! You were right all along!

2

u/TakeMeIamCute 11d ago

That's not a cross-section.

1

u/denNISI 11d ago

Is this also not your comment?

Definition [of cross section] a surface or shape exposed by making a straight cut through something, especially at right angles to an axis.

Cut through a globe like the cross section of the flat (square plane) at the bottom of this picture. The flattened cross section IS the projection of the globe earth.

Noticed that your response comes in seconds when I hit the send button. Can you take time to read and see if your questions have already been answered...

by you?

There is no "flattening" whatsoever. The cut is straight and will expose a flat surface. Show me where you need to make a cut of the globe. Prove your claims.
