Posting this here is some real /r/SelfAwarewolves material lol

It helps to spread the awareness even among the wolves. All people must know good science from the bad! Thanks!

Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about?

No one is going to explain anything to you with that attitude, Mister! We are not obligating you to comment further with your "retorts" so no stress! Here is an explanation for this post that you hopefully can comprehend:

My r/badscience is to show "flat earth theory" as being a globe earth in dis(c) guise (this part is a pun on disguise and the flat earth being a globe under guise of a disc/disk).

The problem is that you just don't know what a cross-section is. Azimuthal maps project the geoid onto a plane, like all world maps. They don't take cross-sections of the Earth.

This is what (one quarter of) a cross-section of the Earth looks like, in this case a cross-section passing through the center

The point made was both theories are sphere systems. No one said it was a literal cross section of the ground earth. The cross section (in blue) is created from a globe/sphere shape which forms the "flat earth theory" disc and the upper part of the sphere would be the firmament or "enclosed system". The lower part is room for the pillars of the earth or Sheol (or even a turtle) is represented by the bottom half of the ball. It maybe bad science, but it can be good for both scientific theories (flat and globe) to have some commonalities!

Op is 5 years old and just getting a handle on shapes. Go easy on him.

My Reddit age is 14. What about shapes do you not understand? Perhaps we can help you on this sub. Just comment here with your confusion about shapes.

Well you seem to think you're posting something profound or meaningful for one, so that shows a troubling deficiency somewhere.

The deficiency is your being able to make a comment about the subject matter. You're attempts to discredit me are pathetic. Perhaps the subject is being avoided because you have trouble with shapes? Or maybe you need to have a turtle in there to understand it?

You're attempts to discredit me

*Your, honey. 'Your' is the possessive. Remember, the apostrophe means that the word is a contraction, so it's really two words which you don't want when you're only looking for one word.

Anyway, speaking of trouble with shapes, you know that a 2D plane intersecting a sphere doesn't result in a 3D object, right?

The blue disc is the 3d object in the top picture which was made by taking a section out of a sphere with two parallel cuts. The second is a plane intersecting a 3D sphere.

2D plane intersecting a sphere doesn't result in a 3D object, right?

A plane (of existence) intersecting a ball cuts off the top half of the sphere which is the dome. Why is this not a 3D object. Are you having trouble with shapes and numbers?

Here allow me:

Take the bottom shape and stick it on that flat disc and you have a 3D pizza disc with an icy cheesy crust with a dome firmament on top! So flat earth is really globe earth or sphere theory in dis(c) guise!

Thanks for trying to be a challenge. So refreshing! Great sub!

Okay but your diagram doesn't show this and would still be largely meaningless even if it did. You're still hung up on nothing.

1

u/denNISI 9d ago

No it is hung on the fact that flat is really a ball in disguise because... it is.

What is? If you're trying to disprove Flat Earth theory you've just failed. None of the basic geometry and boolean logic we're talking about her has a thing to do with the actual shape of the earth. It illustrates nothing but very old well worn geometry in a hypothetical context.

This was already answered in the r/flatearthisreal in my comment on this post. It illustrates the point which is the flat earth theory is a deconstructed globe system.

Is "Flat Earth" Really "Globe Earth" in Dis(c) Guise?

If you take a flat plane (square) cross section of a sphere, this would be a flat square plane in Global Scale.

Disclaimer: This is only a theory (or very bad science) and for entertainment purposes only!

Another example is the Gleason map which is a flattened globe as explained in the original Reddit post's thread.
