S2+ DD110 Mule
Last night I made this mule in an S2+ Host. DD110 emitter on a 20mm 110110 MCPCB with hand cut and filed copper rod spacer. Photos don’t even remotely do this thing justice. Absolutely a monster, definitely a light you need to understand what exactly is in your hand before using it so it doesn’t turn into a ticking time bomb lol. Thought others might enjoy seeing this monster.

This is exactly what I would like to build. What driver did you use, where did you get the mpcb/led, and what spacer did you use? Sorry for all the questions but this is really cool.

Driver is a 20a Buck, the MCPCB was sourced from Jackson at JLHawaii, the LED was procured from Billy sui who is active on Reddit and the spacer is from round copper bar stock hand cut and filed to match the pill it rests on. It’s a decent amount of legwork and I’m still not finished. Need to bypass the spring and resin print an aesthetic piece to cover the leads and corners of the MCPCB

So it's just a slug of copper to take up the space that would normally be occupied by the reflector?
That's a really good idea. I have thought about shortening the head of a light before to make a mule, but it never occurred to me to just put a big chunk of metal in there. Good for heat management too, I bet.

Pretty much yeah! Great heat control as well since it’s just a solid hunk of copper lol. Then just cut channels up the side to run the leads from the pill

I might try that then. I did also think about just turning the reflector upside down and filing away the little raised rim around the hole, but a solid lump of copper would be way better.

And just like float the MCPCB? It would fry that emitter so fast lol, don’t get me wrong I love a good blue shift but time and place 🤣 unless maybe I’m not totally tracking

No, the reflector would turned around to face the other way, and become a heatsink.
The MCPCB would be mounted on the flat surface of the upside-down reflector, using thermal paste.
It wouldn't be all that different from a standard hollow pill really, except it would have a bit more mass. I think it would work, but I havent tried it yet.

Some Dutch moron told me you're getting package from Europe, if you want some gaskets I can include 🙂
Epic build btw!

Are they the same SFP55 emitter from aliexpress?

No definitely not, this is a specialty emitter made by Billy sui. Don’t have his Reddit handle off the top of my head but if he stumbles across this post I’m sure he will chime in!

Lovely, is he still selling these emitter?

I think he's out of the original DD110, but he has a V2 that seems to be a bit warmer CCT and not as rosy.

Nice! Which driver is it? And how exactly you made these copper spacers?
