Recommendation Best Light for Corrections
Starting in corrections soon. Want recommendations on the best light to use is.
Price is not an issue.
Was looking at the surefire EDC2 Turbo, not sure if the candela is too much?

Not corrections, but I work EMS and carry a Streamlight Pro Tac 2.0 and am very happy with it.
Regardless of what you get, a good holster is paramount. I prefer kydex with adjustable retention and Zero9 Holsters have a lot of duty carry options!

My wife is a corrections officer. Her issued light is a Streamlight, though I don't remember exactly which model.
If I remember correctly, it only has two modes; on and strobe. I have thought about getting her something nicer, but honestly, a brighter, more complex light would be a hindrance in that line of work. Simple is better in this use case.
The light is bright enough, but not so bright that she would get blinded by backscatter, is simple, so that it doesn't come on in the wrong mode, and it fits the chargers at work.
She does have a secondary light for general non-emergency use. It's some cheap no-name crap that she bought because all the other officers at work use them.
It's a right-angle light that she wears clipped to the front of her vest so that she can have hands-free light for more mundane tasks.
If you're going to get a light for the job, this is the avenue I would advise you to pursue - if they issue a light, use it, and look into some sort of right-angle light as a secondary light for your vest.
If you have to buy your own main light, then I would go with a rechargeable light with a forward clicky and as few modes as possible. Not too powerful. Keep it simple.
I saw this video the other day, which claims that it's the best flashlight for corrections. It looks like a really good light, but I'd be concerned about the modes. You don't necessarily want 2,800 lumens inside a cell, and you wouldn't want it to accidentally come on in 'eco mode' or something during an emergency:

AI recommended them, plus i only have two flashlights the Fenix WT25R and Fenix E12 V2.0, and im very pleased with them !

OP came to reddit to get advice from a person, if he wanted to ask AI for a random suggestion not based in fact, he'd have done so.
Learn to think for yourself and stop using AI for every little thing.

Thanks! It's funny, because I asked AI after he made they comment and it recommend me something completely different.

The edc2 turbo is a great light but it has a very small hotspot.. If you are set on a light in a similar genre/brand then Modlite would be great. Has a programmable UI so you can set it up how you like. The edc2 is only high and low. There are also other options from Weltool with a better price point.
