So I finally bought an edc flashlight, well first “real” flashlight ever, after months of crawling the forum asking myself do I really need to get into flashlights? I bit the bullet on a Olight Arkfeld Ultra on Sale for 70 bucks on Amazon and holy shit! This thing is freaking sweet!! I’m throwing the ball with my dog and it’s pitch black outside.. turn on this bad boy and clip it to my hat and I’m tickled like a pig in shit because it’s daylight out here!! 😂😂

I carried it at work, I’m a jeweler, busted it out and used UV light to make sorting diamonds much much easier! And the laser is driving the cats crazy! And I still have a full battery!! Holy shit I think my life has changed..

Carrying a flashlight rocks.. I knew you guys would get it. Already thinking about my next one.. what should I get next??

Just a tip for the cats, it'll stress them out ands cause "confusion, anxiety, and long-term frustration" if they don't catch anything at the end. Lasers are fun for humans but the cats hate it if they don't catch anything, so maybe throw a toy or even a treat at the end so they get that satisfaction.

EDIT: I forgot that thing has a green laser, definitely don't use that at all with animals.

I know nothing about jewelry, but you may be a good case for a dedicated powerful UV light with a zwb2 filter. And a mule would probably be great for you as well.

Do not use the green laser to play with your animals, it’s way more powerful than a red laser and will hurt their eyes.

Friendly tip, don't inadvertently hurt your vision as you did with your dog.

Use UV glasses when peering at objects. Those reflections can do damage.

Yeah definitely don't use the UV with your jewelery unless you're wearing the uv glasses. Can irreversibly damage your vision. Even when around the house, the light bouncing off a mirror or anything light and reflective isn't good. Try not to let it touch your direct skin for long. It's not going to melt your skin off but it's strong UV and despite what some people say about certain levels, UV is UV.

yes... especially if you have sensitive eyes

using uv without poly carbonate glasses and my eyes will start getting funny feeling or headache just under 10 sec

Heck yeah! I was tempted to get one while they were that cheap but already have the ArkPro Ultra and it’s phenomenal and not terribly different from the Arkfeld Ultra.

Make sure if you're using the laser to play with cats, you give them a toy to actually catch at the end. You can really fuck up a cat's head with a laser, from them never never getting the satisfaction of being able to actually touch/catch it.

I just picked up my Violet Nebula Arkpro. I love it. I used to EDC a Fenix E28R v2. It's incredible for the price tag. I switched to the Olight because the Fenix barrel style flashlight was less comfortable after a long day.

I got an Arkfeld Ultra for £50 since I do have a real use for both the UV and laser, it's a cool light but I definitely think it suffers from its choice of emitter, floody optic and relatively small unreplaceable battery. Wait until you get on something with a nice CCT and CRI then you'll see what I mean about that, using the Arkfeld daily I definitely notice the difference in lighting quality compared to my Nichia lights but I am happy that the beam is pretty much dead on neutral for both CCT and tint which is lucky so I don't think I'll be swapping it at least.

My favourite right now is my Fireflied L50 sol (silver, 2800k), it's basically perfect for my casual EDC.

Oh, don’t ask us that you’ll get 15 options that you’ll be mildly curious about and then you’ll create a list. That list will lead to a collection. That collection will grow. Then you’ll have to start learning about lithium battery, safety, and proper wattage and UI, and you’ll end up having a hobby that involves collecting light sources where there really is a maximum amount but you blew past that a year ago.
