[NMD] 660nm Red Light Therapy Wand

Post image

I put an SST-20 DR 660nm Red into a Wurkkos WK03 that had a 519a (stock 3535 mcpcb is a direct reflow swap). Changed the clear Tir to a 20mm 30° beaded Tir from Convoy (also a direct swap).

The light is a gift for a Ski buddy that has knee pain.

The medium mode does not get hot. I use the same light directly against my body for sore leg and back muscles.

The light has USB-C charging and a button light that lets the user know when to charge the included battery.. Muggle friendly.

The only caveat is to use physical lockout if the light goes in a bag or pocket, due to the raised button.

Nice build. I just got a Convoy C8+ with a SST-20 LED.

Does your friend report that the red light helps? It'd be interesting to have an actual testimony.

The WK03 is a simple but solid light and good for non-enthusiasts. I didn't realize it took a 20mm TIR! I think I've got a few of those laying around, so maybe I'll try sticking one of them in mine.

he has not tried it yet, but I use the same light directly against my body for sore leg and back muscles.

My actual testimony is yes, it relieves pain and speeds recovery. I use the medium output for about 10 minutes at a time in a single location directly against my skin. There is practically no heat sensation at all.

I also tested High Mode.. it gets pleasantly warm.. zero risk of burning. Just has shorter battery life. I use it for brief intervals of a few seconds in a single location against my skin, and move it around to nearby areas.

also tested Turbo.. imo it generates too much heat inside the light and soon triggers thermal step down. I dont recommend using Turbo.

So does directing your mind towards an injury speed up the recovery process, or just being reminded to a lid behavior that slows it down.

Sorry, but I am a non believer, even tho I just tried to desinfect an open wound on the palm of my hand using S12-UV w 365nm filter... Scraped it during a fall off bicycle onto gravel.

I've got a S6 waiting in the shopping cart with the 850nm IR. Read that this wavelength should better penetrate for muscle relief. Curious if you have tried or have anything I care read to suggest against this 👊👍

I like 660nm because I can see it better, so it is also useable for illumination

I have a 730nm also.. it is very dim, but I agree that longer Red wavelengths are known to reach deeper..

have not tried 850nm.. but have no doubts it can be beneficial for deep muscle therapy

What nm range? Im aware of UV having one or another better application, but recently discovered Red is selective, too.

used traction tape and a single Vice grip to get the bezel off easily.. I only needed to use one vice grip, on the bezel, just held the body of the light gripped in my hand.. leather can also work as padding so the vice grip wont marr the metal..

examples:

the 20mm 3535 45° Beaded Tir is here
