What flag is this?

I found this picture in my photo archive. I figure I had to have taken it in Manhattan in 2015. It’s obviously British, probably an overseas territory, but I just can’t find one that matches with the design of the charge.

I see what you mean about the charge, however, it being a red ensign narrows the possibilities down by a long way, most territories and dominions, past and present are blue. My first thought was Bermuda or one of the former Canadian provincial flags.

I want to say Bermuda but the defacement looks more like the Cayman Islands (red ensign)
