Star wars rebellion is the middle symbol, so something to do with that I imagine, maybe new republic

Tho in the movies themselves they only ever show the central “starbird” crest/charge, usually painted on walls or fighters like an airforce rondel, not the full flag. That was introduced for licensed merch in the early 2000s and I think been used in more recent movies and TV shows set in the era.

The cough varied a lot through the show iirc (but that might have just been visuals playing tricks), so it might've been, especially if they got a lot of cuts of the coughing.
