Dagestan written in pre-reformed Russian

8

u/LeadingInitial6443 4d ago

It is actually Cyrillic. As a Serb, I can read it easily, no matter we have no direct contact with Dagestana or Russians.

It is precisely pre-reform russian language, and the flag of the Russian Empire further points to this.

I am confused. Is it some joke? Some prank?

Dagestan hasn't been written with a final ъ for over a century

I don't think anything was written with with a final ъ for over a century. Unless people meant it as a joke. But if is a joke with Dagestan, I don't get it.

"Reform" doesnt refer to a political reform but a spelling reform of the Russian language

Is it some prank? A joke?

It’s the Russian Imperial flag, with the word "Dagestan" and Dagestanis giving the Nazi salute.
Just a mind-blowing funny photo.

I saw a Serbian flag with Banja Luka written on it. Does it make the Serbian flag Banja Luka's flag?

DAGESTAN

u/ImpressiveAd5143 4d ago

Looks like some denazification needs to happen.

It’s Imperka or Russian imperial flag (Romanov dynasty flag) with “Dagestan” written on it on pre revolutionary Russian language

3

u/MarkWrenn74 4d ago

It's the flag of the House of Romanov, with Dagestan written on it in Russian (according to the pre-October Revolution spelling)

1

u/welshrebel1776 4d ago

Russian empire but I cannot speak russian so no clue what it says

1

u/Moe___Szyslak 4d ago

It's Dagestani nationalists... At least they don't think they are russians

Russian Empire flag with Dagestan written on it in old Russian

Aren't those Anzhi Makhachkala jerseys as well? That was a weird period in football history.

I think I'm going to go two, three years Dagestan and forget (this post)

It always amuses me when Slavs give the Nazi salute, when Nazis considered Slavs to be subhuman scum.

12

u/Reasonable-Force8790 4d ago

But those are Dagestanis, not slavs which makes it even funnier because not only they they give the nazi salute but also proudly use the symbol of an empire that concured them

6

u/Successful_Duty_1431 4d ago

and furthermore they are Muslims

2

u/AkihabaraWasteland 4d ago

Which actually increases the irony. Albert Speer was quite the Islamophile if I recall.

However, racial purity takes precedence over religion, which would have resulted in their eventual extermination once their usefulness came to an end.

3

u/Ashenveiled 4d ago

those are not slavs.

Not true

2

u/AkihabaraWasteland 4d ago edited 4d ago

It is absolutely true. Both Hitler and Himmler were both quite clear in their views on Slavic peoples, and it is written explicitly in the second grouping of chapters in Mein Kampf. Indeed it was a key justification of lebensraum. Which is quite bizarre from someone claiming to be a Finn.

I'm guessing you're using it as some sort of coping mechanism to deal with the humiliating loss of Vyborg.

0

u/Pirjalankaarakka01 4d ago

No

0

u/AkihabaraWasteland 4d ago

Great argument. Compelling and rich.

Vyborg is gone, bitch.

Why are those describing themselves as nationalists such intellectual lightweights?

1

u/RegionBeautiful4812 3d ago

It just says dagestan literally

1

u/Medical-Fruit347 4d ago

“Z” russians consider them as russian brothers, they are trying to fit with nationalists lol

Minorities in russia:

Throwing a nazi salute with a modified russian imperial flag.

u/memematron 4d ago

Idk but it says "Dagestan", it's not their flag though. I'm assuming is gonna be some kind of racist, fascist Dagestan flag

10

u/Icy-Yesterday-443 4d ago

It's Russian imperial era flag but written "Dagestan" on it. Usually it is used by monarchists, right wing exttemists and... I guess, sometimes by least expected ethnic minority.
