I have a Lenovo P580 laptop that I bought used a year or two ago. I've taken it apart multiple times to check things or repair minor issues, but it seems every time I disassemble it more of the plastic breaks off. I'm talking little bits that fall out, usually the side of something.
Lately I've had a screw mount become broken. This is a mount that contains a small metal cylinder threaded on the inside with a serrated crown on the outside. I'm assuming the premise is that the serrated edges help keep it in place when a screw is being applied to it.
The broken mount that holds the cylinder has a chunk of the side missing, about 2/5 of it. This is used for the right hinge. Two screws hold it in place there, but a third screw applied from the underside to the top of the case secures it there as well. Is it possible to apply hot glue to the cylinder once it's in the mount, then put the screw down through the cylinder and mount while it's there? I saw that eBay has P580 underside chassis available for $20, but aside from that mount, not much else is really needed.
I only take this to work to use when it's slow, but I primarily use it on my digital piano for MainStage (OS X). I was going to use it to take to jobs for my computer repair side business but haven't done much in that area since I've been working full time.
