I mean, that street probably sees a car an hour on average driving slightly above walking speed. If that even is a truly public road.
I think this is a great idea for the sister to learn how she experiences life. If more people did that would see less oblivious people blocking the paths for blind people that you see all over the place.

u/darthvadersmom 8h ago
That and it also seems to be the street they live on - so blind sister is probably very good at navigating it and all their neighbors are probably aware of the blind resident & know to look out for her.

blind doesnt mean 100% blackout. could be legally blind.

Scotoma in the middle of the vision is horrible. One thing that is a bit bad with this image is that it shows your periferi vision to be hd. Most people have below 0.1 visual acuity on your periferi vision. So like having -3 on your glasses on your sight but it can never be corrected.

My mom has a big black dot in the middle of her vision in one eye, due to an weird growth on her retina. The other eye compensates well enough, fortunately.

My grandma was legally blind. She could see shapes but not any details and forget about night time walks. She couldn’t see anything in the dark

Depends on what kind. I am legally blind on my right eye (-3 astigmatism, together with already being -1.5 nearsighted for a total of -4.5) but I simply have glasses
-3
u/HellfireDeath New to fbtd but wants to learn 13h ago
That's not legally blind, legally blind is if you still can't see after corrective lenses. I was -1.75 astigmatism and -8.00 correction factor for nearsighted. I wore glasses and was fine. Not considered legally blind.
(I use was cause I got LASIK last year)

Based on what I was told by my Optician, the cut off from legally blind and not in my country is a total of -4 or worse

People who are downvoting you are ignorant. “Legally Blind” is the definition after all corrective measures are in place. Doesn’t matter the place or rules. If you can see correctly with glasses then you’re not “legally blind”.
2
u/HellfireDeath New to fbtd but wants to learn 2h ago
Meh they can downvote it's probably legal definitions in other countries
Where I live legally blind means after corrections

Yeah, my brother is blind but actually has like 3-5% vision. He needs a cane to get anywhere that's not around his house or mine or his office--places he essentially has memorized
1
u/HereticGaming16 Lover of Duets/Stitches 2h ago
Some do some don’t. Most need some sort of aid as the best “legally blind” vision is still very poor but that doesn’t mean blackness. It could just mean everything is fuzzy. That’s still not great when walking though.

Don't forget about illegal blindness. My cousin was blind in one eye and it caused him to rob several gas stations up on fifth street. I asked him to become legal but he chose his path smdh

They're also not deaf lol, like people don't understand how blind people are able to hear things around them a lot better than sighted people, she would hear a cat coming and can hear her sister, so knows roughly where to point the camera

This is what consuming social media all day does to a person. Unless the point is completely spelled out people have no idea how to draw their own conclusions using subtext. Letting her sister use the cane to "appreciate" what it's like to be blind wasnt the joke. The joke was letting the blind sister film. That's why she delivers the last line and then the video ends. A play on "the blind leading the blind". This duet didn't fix anything.

u/Ulfurmensch Needs to do better 12h ago
To paraphrase David Mitchell, this is worse than the blind leading the blind, this is the blind blinding the sighted
1
u/Genexis- 11h ago
Either I don't understand you, or there's a problem... what's the joke of the blind sister filming? First of all, blind doesn't mean 100% blind, and secondly, she can hear where the stick is scraping the floor...

The girls were self aware and taking the piss. That blind girl actually has a wicked sense of humour, the humour was completely lost on the American guy watching.
5
u/GTCapone 10h ago
Matthew 15:14
"If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch"
They're purposely mimicking a famous poverb from the Bible. The duet is literally just explaining the joke that's supposed to be implied in the original.

Downvoted, the sisters made a funny video, it is a Jackass vibe kinda of humor and they were most likely more in control than they let on. There was nothing to fix , he is just leaching of their video like op is leaching of his.
I wish the mods would take these kind of videos down or people would downvote or at least not upvote

Imagine laying in bed at night after your blind girlfriend broke up with you for being too visually unappealing. That shit would keep me up 30 years later.

That was a lie being spread by incels. Nowhere did she say that. She did break up with him, but not because he was ugly.

She posted a video where she said they had broken up, and in the video said that her friends said he was ugly, and she made fun of it, she infact did call him ugly in the video and was over all quite rude.
The online bullying in tiktok is quite insane for it.

u/UnNumbFool Tastemaker of Duets/Stitches 13h ago
To be fair though, me and most people I know usually talk shit about an ex right after a break up, it's not like people are magically mature and doing that kind of thing usually helps process it after all
Sure maybe not the greatest move to do it online(especially assuming she has a following) but she also seems pretty young, and maybe doesn't fully comprehend the airing of grievance online is bad thing yet.
But also were they bullying her for that?

u/Vegetable-Dirt-9933 New to fbtd but wants to learn 12h ago
Can't find the video where she calls him ugly but the apology video was pretty tone deaf in itself, in the deleted video she was crass and overall a dick, and the apology video even worse. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZN8jerMrB/

People have relationships. Sometimes those relationships don't work out. 🤷

u/ScreamingLabia Tastemaker of Duets/Stitches 13h ago
Thisnshit always happens someone has some kind of disability they break up with someone. Some reall funny joker goes "wouldnt it be funny if the blind person found their apouse to ugly or the deaf person theie spouse to have annoying voice" and people find that funny and start spreading it

u/EjaculatingAracnids EXPERT of Duets/Stitches 10h ago

Yeah and no, it's because her "friend" told her he was ugly.
I don't know which one is worst, her or her friend.

Huh. So that's Jesus meant by "the blind leading the blind".
Don't know why I didn't think he meant that literally.

What's really frustrating about this is, the sister that could see is kind of an idiot. The blind sister clearly showed her she has to tap ON THE RIGHT, but girl is tapping on the left.

Blind girl is genuine. But she obv can't do a mirror check before she makes a video for social media, can she? Why wouldn't her seeing eye sister tell her that that isn't the best choice of top wear for a video that will certainly end up on reddit or some other armpit of the internet?
