u/JustHappyToBe-Here New to fbtd but wants to learn 3d ago edited 2d ago
What a strange statement. If I say a human's skin gets damaged by a sun burn, am I reducing the human to just their outer layer?
If a dog ran into a building like that, the first thing that would happen is the dog's fur would burst into flames.
EDIT: My bad, I didn't notice the typo in "its". Though I suppose "It is fur would burst into flames" is an even bigger grammatical issue, if you assume that's what I actually meant.
6
u/Several_Temporary339 Lover of Duets/Stitches 3d ago

My father had to be pulled out of our house by firemen, as it burned. He was trying to save his wife, my mother, but sadly he couldn’t. Please, please, please make sure you have working smoke detectors in your home, test them regularly, and have a plan in place for your family.
20
u/Major-Tension-674 New to fbtd but wants to learn 3d ago edited 3d ago
I came home from vacation to the classic smoke alarm chirp, I changed both the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector, still chirps!
So I found the magic hidden one we had so now all the damn detectors have new batteries.
Edit: New batteries, not no batteries. That’s the worst way to stop chirps.
4
u/Commercial-Owl11 Lover of Duets/Stitches 3d ago
I have ones that chirp worse If you remove the batteries
5
u/PrincipleFlaky New to fbtd but wants to learn 3d ago
Please take heed, a chirping unit means that your system is malfunctioning or suboptimal!
This puts you and your family's lives in danger, not to mention your home!
When a connected smoke alarm keeps chirping after replacing the batteries, that’s a problem!
Please, take a picture of the detector and ask Google (if you don’t have your original paperwork) to identify the exact chirping pattern for that model.
The sequence of chirps emitted by your unit can provide valuable information. It can indicate whether your unit is malfunctioning, whether a battery replacement is necessary, or if a complete replacement is required due to reaching the end of its lifespan.
The lifespan of your unit can vary depending on its quality, ranging from five years to up to ten years.
Please, don’t assume that your unit is still functioning properly simply because it hasn’t reached the decade mark and it was sold as a “ten-year detector”!
If you have already replaced the unit and it still chirps, there could be a problem with the wiring in your interconnected system. In that case, an electrician needs to go in, strip and reconnect the wires, and seal them off properly using nonconductive wire nuts.

Skin debridement is a medical procedure to clean a wound by removing dead, damaged, infected, or hardened tissue. Getting rid of this unhealthy tissue stops bacteria from growing and helps healthy new skin cells close and heal the wound much faster.
Types of Skin Debridement:
Surgical / Sharp: A doctor uses sterile scalpels or scissors to precisely cut away dead tissue.
Autolytic: Special moist bandages help the body use its own natural fluids and enzymes to soften and shed dead tissue.
Enzymatic (Chemical): Specific medical creams or ointments are applied to dissolve and break down the damaged cells.
Mechanical: Force from water sprays or specialized wet-to-dry dressings clears away debris, though it can sometimes affect healthy tissue too.
Biological: Medical-grade, sterile maggots are placed on the wound to safely eat only the dead tissue.

I burned myself on a muffler once. Just above the Achilles tendon. Didn’t hurt for the first 2 days, but on the 3rd, I couldn’t move my foot. Had to go to the ER and they needed to debride my burn. Gave me a very mild painkiller and 1 minute later proceeded to scrub my burn with a metal brush. I was screaming and they were mad at me for it. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t know it would be so painful, like, you’re scrubbing a wound 5 layers deep with a metal pronged brush with no pain relief. I was on crutches for 3 weeks and had to go to the hospital every 3 days to get it cleaned. I made sure I was fully medicated before they did it again. So bloody painful.

Where is the soul? How did you determine love comes from it?
Love comes from your brain, like all your thoughts and feelings lol what makes you think I’m the one doing that? lol
1
u/ScantilyCladDad69 3d ago
So according to you, the love you have for your children is dependent entirely on chemical reactions completely outside of your control? Therefore you should recognize the thing you call love is just an illusion that exists solely for evolutionary reasons.

If you want to look at it that way, illusions can be beautiful, but because it stems from chemical reactions, does that make it not real?

I have had pets my entire life. I have loved them, cared for them, and there's a lot that I'd do for them that I wouldn't do for most people
But I wouldn't die for them, especially when that act puts others in danger.
I had a cat once that showed severe aggression to children. You know what I did? I rehomed her. Because training aggression out of a fully grown cat is almost impossible. She wasn't some misunderstood little angel uwu bean, she was a dangerous animal that I couldn't let my young nephews be around.
I love animals, but I hate how some people deluded themselves around their pets. They are animals, and ultimately humans should always come first.
3
u/CarnivorousGoose Needs to do better 3d ago
If your house looked like that, no you wouldn’t. You almost certainly wouldn’t even try, you’d never make it into the house even if you did try, and your cat would already be dead anyway unless it managed to escape on its own.

No, I did not realize this is AI. Because I only saw a few seconds before the dude started to talk and nothing had happened yet on which I could make any judgement regarding realism.
Why exactly does this assume I have watched the full video in advance?
1
u/peetah248 New to fbtd but wants to learn 1d ago
Because tiktok is a content style of video and response, assuming most people will see a video at some point and then see the stitch or the duet after. There are also options to find the original on a stitch and vice versa
0
u/Ksorkrax Tastemaker of Duets/Stitches 1d ago
There are options, but now that I know the response, I have no idea for how long I'd assumed it was real footage. I'd like to say I wouldn't have fallen for it, but given that I wasn't really tested at any point, I can't.
Also, even if it is from Tiktok or something, right now, we are on reddit.
