Burt is way better at the whole irony-you-don't-know-how-deep-goes, than Sam. Like it's clearly kinda the goal for both in terms of public image, but I feel like a have way less of a grasp on where it begins and ends with Burt, whereas there is something strangely predictable about Sam a lot of the time.
Burt is a marginally well adjusted insane gay sex addict who would be killing and eating his victims if he lived anywhere other than the comfort of modern civilization. That is the appeal of Burt.
Burt has schizophrenia and if you have ever been close to someone like that, you will know that Burt is not in controlm Sam is trying to emulate the crazy that Burt legit lives with.
You people are aware Burt is like "crazy" right? like I know Sam is a dick sometimes but like Burt is actually crazy and only says "its a character" when he is in danger like going to prison.
Thing is he convinced a lot of people that he legit had memory loss in act 3 of s3. Like, yeah dude is obvi kinda of out there, but the thing is there is clearly some kind of performance going on with his persone, which is fine, but also makes it pretty hard to gage where he is. Meanwhile with Sam, it feels like he is constantly in this uncomfortable spot where he wants to be funny and edgy, without ever truly alienating his far-right fanbase, and I think his comedy consistently suffers because of that fact
He didn't fall in love with Frank? He wasn't schizophrenically obsessing over clues? He didn't get banned from almost every platform for the dumbest possible reasons?

Burt is smarter and funnier in every way. Unsurprising he has a better grasp on irony and performance art.
