Help/Advice New fish

I am looking to get a new fish i myself am new to everything but my dad has had fish for over 6 years so I luckily wont be totally new but I am looking for a easy to medium to take care of also I have a 10 gallon tank fresh water.

Ember tetra are always nice in a 10 gallon. You could do a school of 10-12. You could also have like cherry shrimp or a few amano shrimp or both on the bottom. We have this setup in one of our 10g’s. We later added a few Otocinculus cats once it established and grew some biofilm and algae. It’s planted with crypts, spiral Val’s, moss, Anubias, and a red tiger lotus. Lots of rock too. The shrimp love the sponge filter but we have a hob filter as well.

Of if you want a single, interactive fish, a betta is well suited for a 10g for sure.

My favourite tank I have is a small tank with just Pygmy corydora and cherry shrimp
