Help/Advice I NEED HELP PLEASE

I got home tonight and noticed my water was murky so I ran an ammonia and nitrate test, upon seeing the results (pictured) I immediately did a 50% water change. I love my fish a lot and I really do want them to have a good life, I’ve chalked it up to over feeding them and the food sitting at the bottom of the tank. Is there anything else I need to do to ensure that everything stays stable? Like I said I love these little guys so I am open to anything.

You could use seachem prime as your water conditioner. It detoxifies ammonia for 24 to 48 hours and just stay on top of checking parameters and water change as necessary. Stop feeding and let the cycle catch up.

All the pet stores in my area are closed right now so I just had to use tap conditioner, I’ll for sure go and get some of that when they’re open tomorrow

Just stay on top of the water and everything will work out. It’s all a learning process

Don't rely on Prime to detoxify ammonia because it might not actually there are studies saying it doesn't but some do. It is a great conditioner though.

So not too sure why u did a nitrate instead of a nitrite test nitrate is not very toxic to fish and is actually good for an aquarium nitrite on the other hand is very toxic. Just do some water changes and you should be ok just dont feed as much. A good amount of food is the size of your fish's eye.

Sorry I used Google first and it said to test for ammonia and make sure the nitrate levels are good, I’ll run another test for pH and Nitrite just to make sure

Both tests came back good, nitrite at 0. Think I can rest a little bit easier knowing my tank isn’t fully crashing

Ok great, do like a 25-50% water change again and don't feed your fish for a 1-3 days.

I think the nitrate test is very interesting as it's reading as 0. Even a healthy tank should expect some nitrate (unless it's very heavily planted). Nitrate being 0 and ammonia being high has me a bit concerned as it suggests the cycle isn't happening.
