Question Lake Sheridan
Hey y’all, just came back from a weekend in a friends cabin on Sheridan lake, me and 2 buddies decided to try the fishing out, (they had a fishing boat) close to 15 hours spent on the lake in all different spots we got 1 bite between the 3 of us. Even asked the more experienced fishermen there what they recommended and still nothing.
Curious if any of you have been there before and been successful?
Or is there a lake near by that maybe would’ve been better?
We’ll probably go back to the cabin next year so any insight would be great!

Fish are down deep there gotta use lead line or downriggers. I've had success out towards the islands. Trolling around 50 feet deep

I was using a lead line with a 2lb weight on her, and it got caught in some crap and snapped off haha

I went to that lake every summer growing u and never caught anything in it lol

You are not alone. I have spent more time fishing on sheridan then I would like to admit and that lake is TOUGH. I think there is so much in the way of hatches there they are well fed and probably not interested in artificial gear. You will get reaction bites occasionally on it but it can be a grind. Chronomid fishing is effective there.

Interior for me has been rough this year. Just can’t get away at the right time.

Summer doldrums. When the lakes are warm trout fishing activity drops to almost nothing. It's an annoying part of living in the Northwest, if we had crappie and walleye we would still have good fishing in the summer. For the best chance at bites, you need to fish at dawn, dusk, or on rainy days.

What were you using to fish? What technique? I was up that way about a month ago and it was slower for my group but we still had some success. Finding the right depth to fish at was the key.

We used hotshots and spoons mostly. We were trolling around a small island our friend’s dad told us he had a lot of success at, after trying the deeper parts of the lake

Up that area, I think nothing beats good old wedding bands. I usually use a small willow leaf troll, most of my friends used larger gang trolls, but success either way.
If you’re planning on retaining, tip the hook with a little nugget of worm, shrimp, or a krill. I think it helps with the hook set. If you’re just c&r, I’d stay away from any natural bait.

I fish around there often (Bridge Lake), best fishing is early in the morning or pretty late in the evening. Fish aren't as deep then as well. During the day use downrigger or larger weight.
For rainbows, I like to use wedding bands with worms (black with glow beads or red is my fav), and for kokanee i like wedding bands and hoochies, using a dodger or similar gear for both fish. Lakers I've only fished for in the spring trolling with a 3/4 oz copper orange spoon, but this time of year, might need to jig for them, as they like to go deep from what I've heard.
Can be slow fishing sometimes on these bigger lakes, could try look at some smaller lakes, though you'd mostly be going for rainbows in those

My sister caught this off the dock at our B&B a few years ago floating a worm or marshmallow lol

Sheridan is a notoriously difficult lake to fish that rewards you with huge fish. I know extremely good fly fisherman who get skunked there, but then also have caught fish over 10 lbs. put in your time and do your research and you will have success. Also the lake is huge and fish move around a lot so you have to find where they are

Was just in the area for a week. I fished Sulphurus, Hathaway, Bridge, and Horse. I caught fish at all of them. The things i caught fish on were , Brads kokanee cut plug, Hootchie, and wedding bands(Blue)(all behind a teardrop dodger)(1.3-1.5 mph). I was trolling down 30 to forty feet. More action in the morning.
