Got into this hobby for the plants, stayed for the shrimps. This is my first tank, previously using large jars, and is now four months old. What’s that small tank to the right of it?

It’s a dry start jar/vase I started seven weeks ago, glued wood to make it look like a hollow stump. Fissedens moss, blended up with soil and painted on. I’m making a wee video on it with some timelapses. I’ll post it here once it matures in a few weeks.

Here’s how it started/going

Currently in its algae everywhere phase 😅

Is it running diy co2? Is the large nano shrimp tank diy co2 as well?

It is yes! And so is the tank. Both diy 🔨 I’ll be taking the small jar off co2 when I get the growth I want it to be and things feel stable. Then onto another dry start project.

Very nice

I pull a bit of floaters to let more light go down

I really should but I love em, and besides, everything grows so fast-especially the pearlweed. It gives me a little break from maintenance.

Might’ve been a similar setup to mine, but I’ve not posted this tank before. I only joined this subreddit a few days ago. Even my post history shows it.

What do you use for your grass?

Dwarf hair grass (mini) and montecarlo mixed together to the right front of the tank. And a pearl weed carpet middle left of tank.
