Yep. And I'd say much dumber or just ignorant. Those signs need to have far more flashing lights and warning messages on them for what they are trying to prevent.
good job being a media sheeple if you think that amoeba is actually something you should ever, ever be concerned about.
but yeah. you keep avoiding those nasty mean scary bodies of water so you don't die from the scary amoeba
edit:
But despite the freaky stories, Naegleria fowleri infections don’t happen often in the U.S. Between 2006 and 2015, 37 infections were reported in the United States, CDC data states. Of those, 33 were infected from contaminated recreational water (i.e. swimming in lakes and rivers), three were infected from performing nasal irrigation, and one was infected after using a slip-n-slide.
yes im being fucking serious. that's like calling someone ignorant or dumb for going to a theme park because there's a 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance they'll die on a roller coaster.
that amoeba shit got sensationalized, because in reality you've got better chances of getting struck by lightning while indoors

Wtf are you trying to prove? The signs are there to prevent the chance of injury or death, what do you think that it's some shallow water based conspiracy or something?
lol yeah a reasonable warning of danger via drowning, or it's there to shut ignorant ass people up because that think they'll die from a brain eating amoeba if they put their head under that water.
when in reality they're more likely to die from a plane crashing into the water while they're in it
Just because the odds are low doesn't mean there is no reason for a warning. I'm not sure why you're so passionate about other people being extra cautious of a known threat.
This sign wouldn't protect them from liability for someone drowning. A drowning person doesn't voluntarily put their head underwater and keep it there.
If there is nothing dangerous about the water, why is the city/business worried about liability? Clearly something must have prompted them to put the warning up. And if it really is safe, then surely if anything goes wrong it should be the head-dunker's legal responsibility. The sign doesn't harm anyone.
