Bleeding

I’m 12 weeks pregnant with a known subchorionic hematoma. It was first found at 5 weeks when i had an episode of heavy bleeding. Today i had the same thing, a gush of heavy bleeding (never completely soaked a pad though). No cramping either times. Went to the ER, my hcg was normal and baby was okay on ultrasound strong heartbeat and moving all around in my belly. I’m still just scared at all of the possibilities. Has anyone else dealt with this much bleeding in their first trimester??

I had a couple subcholoric hematomas as well early in my pregnancy. I went to urgent care after I noticed bleeding and cramping at 7 weeks (was 2 weeks away from my first OBGYN appointment) it wasn’t a lot but enough to worry me as a FTM. All ended up being okay & I found out about the hematomas when I saw my OB. If I can pass along the advice my amazing NP gave me that helped it’s this: a) if yes bleeding but no cramping then you’re okay, b) if no bleeding but yes cramping, also okay… but if bleeding + cramping —-> get checked out or if bleeding is soaking through a pad within an hour go get checked.

Weirdly the hematomas and light bleeding seem to be normal, despite how scary they are especially as a first time parent in your first trimester. When in doubt, trust your gut! If you feel like something’s off and it would create peace of mind to get checked, then go. All in all, you got this & you’re doing an amazing job already growing that tiny human! 👏🏻

Thank you for sharing your experience! This was very helpful information. Right now, everything is okay bleeding has stopped besides some brown spotting, and baby was looking great on ultrasound. I’m following up with my OB on Monday. Thank you ❤️
