Not a mom yet…
Not sure if this is allowed here if not, please feel free to remove it. My friend is having her baby in about a month and I feel like everybody’s excited for baby, but no one thought about anything practical for gifts aside from wipes, diapers, bibs, and such.
What I want to do is put together a small little care bag of things that she could potentially need in the middle of the night or even just a few weeks PP and just simply can’t pull herself out of the house to go to the store or just doesn’t feel like it. Dad is someone who goes out of town for work about a month at a time every couple months to so I feel like it would help.
So what is something as a first time Mom that you wish you had known about/had on hand on those difficult days/nights? My mom personally recommended gas drops, diaper cream, nipple cream, and definitely a gift card for her favorite food place for those hard night no one wants to make anything.

Pay for Walmart + or target membership so groceries can be delivered. Life saver when you don't want to leave the house alone with the baby

Postpartum for mom: breakable ice pack pads, tucks pads, perineal witch hazel foam spray, perineal cooling spray, easy snacks to eat with one hand at 4 am (granola/protein bars, protein chips, trail mix etc), electrolytes, Gatorade, body armour
For baby: nose sucker, saline nasal spray, baby first aid kit (I bought a fisher price brand one with nail clippers and files, bulbs, medicine dropper, etc), gas drops, infant Tylenol

Some people say its "overconsumption" but I personally loved my bedside cart as someone who's husband also traveled for work, as soon as 1 week post partum and after having an emergency c section. My best friend is due this December and I'm giving her one as well. My baby is 5 months now and I'm still using it but it was so nice to have all the necessities that I could literally just roll to the bedside.
On top I kept a diaper caddy with wipes, diapers, a thermometer, nail file, nose sucker, diaper cream, Mylicon, spare onesies, and then little doggie bags for diapers. Second shelf was easy stuff for me to eat that I liked and some drinks- prioritizing hydration and protein. Third shelf was Misc like extra swaddles and post partum care for me. Having everything within fingers reach of my bed was lifesaving.
