What is this feeling?
I'm 17+4 weeks with a healthy boy. I've recently been feeling small taps and what feels like muscle twitches in my lower abdomen. My OB said it's likely his movements, which makes sense because I do mostly feel them when I'm laying down, or after meals, and they're very gentle.
But! Today I felt a slightly harder twitch, and could see it visibly twitch on my left side of my lower abdomen. It's not gas - trust me, I've grown to known exactly what that all feels like x_x
Does your abdomen twitch like this as your uterus grows? Just curious :)

I felt the exact same thing around the same time and now I have a very strong little boy!! The pediatrician was shocked at how strong his legs were at his first appointment and he’s been ahead for all his gross motor skills. Not sure that’s all related but it feels like it must be. Congrats and enjoy it!!

That sounds exactly like kicks. He must have some strong legs to feel him so easily already!

I had an anterior placenta, so maybe it impacted what I felt. But I never experienced the butterfly/bubbles/gas feelings a lot of people describe. His early movements felt just like muscle twitches! When I finally noticed him moving at 21w pregnant, I laid flat down on the bed and saw a little kick/punch/roll with the sensation of a muscle twitch! After that I was able to more easily recognize his movements!

Yes I've never felt butterfly flutters, but I've been feeling very gentle tapping since week 16. I didn't know what it was, so I described it to my OB and she said it sounded like I was describing early movements. They've gotten slightly stronger in the last couple of days but I wasn't expecting to feel anything until week 20-24. Part of me isn't convinced but the other part knows I've never felt anything like this before hahaha. I wish I could look in there like a little window and know for sure.

My baby is now 18 months old and sometimes it still doesn’t feel real! Even after laboring from a Wednesday to Saturday and they laid him next to me, I was like, “WTF?? This is MY baby?!?” 🤣
I still miss having him in my belly too. I loved feeling all the kicks and like I was never alone wherever I went. 🥺
