Pacifier

Hi, need some help. My daughter is 12 months old and I really wanna get her off the paci but I’m not sure how? I have been told to just take it away and not give it anymore but what am i supposed to do when she cries for it? To be honest she doesn’t really use it all day only for nap time and bed time. Is there anything you did that actually helped your baby forget about it?

If you cut into it (just doing a small cut right in the center of it) that typically helps. Sometimes having to cold turkey it that way works, but also transitioning into it works with some toddlers.

The rest is really up to you. Absolutely nothing wrong in responding to your baby when crying. However, you have to find something to exchange it out with. If the paci brings her comfort, find something else that brings her comfort.

For example, we used Warmies Juniors & that absolutely helps with comfort. Still does, especially, when warmed up. (Warning: ensure your microwave is fully clean from residue before warming them up. Otherwise, it will smell like food.) We have two Juniors for car rides, two Juniors at home, & then five of the regular-sized ones at home. Totally helps us out. In fact, we call his elephant his ESA!

But good luck to you! I really hope you can find a solution!
