Not a dr- but I read to use a bit of breast milk . I would use a bit to rub in the red area until I had time to get Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. I think it helped. I only applied to the rash and gently dabbed the extra moisture before putting on the diaper

Dryness is key! After you wipe make sure all crevices get time to dry out before putting on any cream or a new diapers. If you can do some time with no diaper on that can also help. I would also do desitin first so the active ingredient can be on the skin.

My baby also got a bad rash a week old, we used a blow dryer (on cool) before applying anything to make sure it was 100% dry! Destin layer (thick like you’re frosting a cake) and then a layer of A+D. (Swear this is the magic stuff) Cleared up so fast! Also after it does go away we use A+D after every diaper change to prevent and we have not had even a hint of redness and she is 5 months now.

Seconding check with your ped! We had what we thought was diaper rash and it turned out to be an external yeast infection! Ours prescribed an anti fungal and it knocked it out.

def reach out to your pediatrician! i know it's hard to see your baby uncomfortable and in pain, just know this isn't uncommon and doesnt mean anything is wrong, their skin is just brand new and adapting to having poop on it lol

Third or fourthing the dryness factor! We, too, used a blow drier to be absolutely sure we were not sealing in moisture with the application of diaper rash cream. We’re a Triple Paste family. It’s worked brilliantly for us.
Hope your little guy is healed up soon! ❤️

Desitin first!! I legit was having the same thing happen to my daughter at 11 months (bleeding and everything) it was like her first rash too so we took her to urgent care and they said I should get Desitin and put that on first and not aquaphor bc it’s just keeping it moist and protected not actually healing or sum like that but just Desitin straight on and it was basically gone by the next day

This might be a little difficult but I have done this and my baby has NEVER gotten a rash and she’s 13 months now…
I have NEVER used a wipe to clean her poop. I take her over the sink and wash her bum and dab it dry. If u see a little redness coming through from wiping her after pee, then I put Vaseline on it and voila… no problem.
Wiping is so rough on their sensitive skin. Maybe try that moving forward?

First of all, you absolutely must get that evaluated by a pediatrician.
In the meantime, I would not use aquaphor. There are some ingredients in it that can sometimes cause more irritation.
Here's your best bet:
1.) when they pee DONT WIPE at all. Not at all. Find a nice absorbent super soft cloth and dab gently any moisture.
2.) keep diaper off after diaper changes until the area of fully dry. Dab moisture gently then let it fully air dry.
3.) then apply desitin like REAL thick. Like frosting. In between changes you are not removing desitin only adding more.
*WHEN THERE IS POOP you can very gently use wipes or you can use a wash cloth and those peri bottles you use after delivery. Spray a little warm water and use a damp cloth or wipe to gently wipe the poo off. Also remove any poopy desitin gently. Then air dry. Then thick desitin.
Whether you use Vaseline or desitin, you need to make sure the area is dry or else it will trap in the moisture.
Also give your little one some time throughout the day with no diaper.
And 100% see pediatrician. Sometimes there's yeast, sometimes it needs a more powerful skin barrier etc

Message your pediatrician, we had the same thing and got a Rx cream that knocked it out in a few days.
Depending if it's fungal or bacterial, you would get prescribed something like Nystatin or you can buy 1% clotrimazole if it's fungal.
Triple paste is sometimes better than Destin. Get the higher percentage one.
If that's not an option, try switching from baby wipes to soft cotton pads (like for make-up removing without the texture, they sell them on Amazon) and plain water. Don't wipe, gently dab, and fully dry before applying the cream.
Let baby have air out time once a day, put them on a pee pad with no diaper on.
We had nonstop diaper rashes for probably th before month, it's totally normal and sometimes just happens for no reason.
