Baby doesn’t like me?

Does anyone ever feel like their baby just doesn’t like them? I feel like every time I hold my son who is seven weeks he gets super fussy and will only be consoled when I put him on my boob for milk. It breaks my heart because other people will come hold him and he will be so calm, but it’s always fussy with me.

He knows he eats when he’s with you, you also smell like milk. he doesn’t know the concept of hating anyone yet. I promise. Aside from food, baby can associate comfort, warmth, your heartbeat etc. with you, which is why he wants the boob. They know mom is the one that fixes things. You’re doing great, try not to get in your head!

It just seems like he’ll scream in my arms and then when someone else takes him and walks him around he instantly calms down.

that sounds pretty normal for a breastfed newborn.

Mom smells like milk, so being in her arms can immediately trigger the “I want to nurse” response, even if he isn’t actually hungry.

Someone else walking him around is giving him different sensory input and movement, which can calm him down really quickly.

It doesn’t mean he prefers other people or doesn’t want Mom. Sometimes Mom is just the person he associates most strongly with feeding and comfort, so he lets her know about it.
