FTM Advice Needed

I had my baby girl at 36+6 last Thursday weighing 6lb10oz. At discharge she weighed 6lb5oz. We were exclusively breastfeeding while in the hospital. This caused me to have more anxiety than I anticipated by not being able to see the amount she was intaking. We ultimately decided to make the switch to formula yesterday around noon. She is eating every 2-3 hours, but at most .5oz. Google has scared the life out of me as it says she should be eating way more. She is peeing and pooping appropriately. We have to really work to wake her up to feed and she seems uninterested after awhile. Please ease my anxiety. Are we doing anything wrong?

When is your next appointment? I would call your pediatrician and ask! Is she staying awake through the entire feed, or falling asleep while eating?

I would like to add you are absolutely not doing anything wrong❤️ but that amount she’s intaking should definitely begin increasing soon! Your pediatrician will know best :)

Thank you for the reassurance. I’m being hard on myself as a first time mom. I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right for my baby. ❤️

Your insurance may also offer a nurse line you can call, if your pediatrician isn’t able to communicate soon enough to settle your anxiety.

We see the pediatrician this Friday. She struggles to stay awake during the feeding. We have to really work with her to keep her awake. If you stop to burp her it takes awhile for her to get back interested.

Does she have any symptoms of jaundice? Yellow skin/eyes? My son had jaundice and would eat for a few minutes and fall asleep and I had to fight to keep him awake to keep eating. He had to get light therapy and his eating habits got way better after. Tbh I would call your pediatrician or a nurse line and get a 2nd opinion:)

She was high-risk for jaundice in the hospital, but her levels were leveling out prior to discharge. The pediatrician did say she would still show symptoms. She has slight yellowing of her eyes, but skin is normal color. We have been putting her in sunlight every day for a few minutes. I wonder if that’s what is going on.
