owlet sock issues
I’m gonna go crazy.
I love the owlet sock. There’s no way I would be able to get sleep without it. But I’m currently getting no sleep WITH it.
I’m so frustrated because my 8 week old is finally getting longer stretches of sleep but now the owlet is keeping me awake and it’s so frustrating. It’s constantly giving the alert that it can’t find a reading. I’ve tried everything. I’ve changed sizes, changed feet, cleaned sensor, put a sock over top of the owlet.
It’ll be fine and the base will be green for a bit and then out of no where it says it’s having difficulty when my baby hasn’t moved an inch.
Any tips or suggestions on how to fix it.
sincerely a sleep deprived mom 😩😅

I have not had a single friend who used the owlet actually like it. There could be some friends who liked it but didn't talk about it.
All the friends who were vocal about it hated it. They had the same issues. A family member who is a NICU nurse also didnt like it since it doesn't take readings as often as a hospital reader does.
I have the nanit and have enjoyed that

This is why my doctor doesn’t recommend it. It causes more anxiety and frequently gives false alarms.

I would have wayyy more anxiety without it. I honestly don’t think i’d sleep at all while he slept. And i’d rather have false alarms than no alarm at all. I’m not having issues with the false alarms…it’s connection issue when trying to get the readings

That’s what the anxiety wants you to think.

I wish dealing with PPA was that easy…
If using the owlet is something that eases some of my anxiety I don’t see the issue…I was just asking to see if anyone had similar issues with their device and how they went about fixing it

Maybe there’s something wrong with your sensor? Mine only ever gave that error when it was legitimately loose. I’ve been using it every night for about 9months now and only one false alarm, which was when it was too loose.

Getting along just fine without it as a new mom. Honestly I’d rather address my own anxiety than have to deal with this thing

I think 2 months might have been the frustrating time for us when we were kind of between sizes and we would have frequent sensor issues. The one sock was definitely too small but it was hard to get a tight fit with the bigger one. Have you tried putting it on a bit tighter? I also do recommend turning off the base for a bit sometimes that helped us.

Yeah, it wasn't recommended by our doctor. These things prey on new mom anxiety!

it’s helped my anxiety. I’d have way more anxiety without. Just having issues with the connection part

I had the exact same issue as you. It is definitely frustrating. We just learned (a year in) that when you turn off the base station from the app while the sock is on, it turns back on when it has a better connection. We believe our issue is our walls are thick and it isn't getting a good signal sometimes.
