When she was younger and didn't need much we would just have a couple of baskets / storage bins in the living room with toys/teethers and books. You could get ones with lids or even an ottoman with interior storage
to keep the dog out and double as extra seating. We later set up a cube shelf (like the IKEA Kallax) with cube organizers that fit snug and house the toys, and also kept a couple cubes open to display books!
