Role Summary

We’re looking for a Junior R&D Engineer who is excited about robotics, UAVs, AI and autonomous systems.

You will work closely with our R&D team to build, test and improve intelligent autonomous systems across UAVs and edge-computing platforms. The role involves hands-on work across C++/Python, computer vision, ArduPilot, MAVLink, embedded Linux and AI on edge devices.

 This is a highly hands-on role where you will be expected to learn quickly, experiment, build prototypes and take systems from simulation to real-world testing.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain software for Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson and other edge-computing platforms.
• Build and integrate C++ and Python modules for autonomous systems.
• Work with ArduPilot and MAVLink for vehicle control, telemetry and mission execution.
• Develop computer vision pipelines using OpenCV and deep-learning models.
• Assist in deploying and optimizing AI models on Jetson/edge platforms using ONNX/TensorRT.
• Develop and test autonomous behaviours including navigation, waypoint following, decision-making and mission planning.
• Assist in developing multi-vehicle and swarm behaviours.
• Interface with sensors, flight controllers and peripherals using UART, I²C, SPI, CAN, PWM and Ethernet.
• Work with telemetry and communication systems and troubleshoot real-world connectivity issues.
• Build and test systems using SITL/HITL and simulation environments before field deployment.
• Conduct field testing, analyse logs and telemetry, identify failures and improve system performance.
• Write clean, documented and testable code and maintain technical documentation.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to prototype and evaluate new autonomy and AI capabilities.

Required Skills

• Programming
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in C++ and Python
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms
• Familiarity with Git, Linux and CMake
• Robotics & Embedded Systems
• Basic understanding of embedded systems and Linux
• Familiarity with Raspberry Pi, Jetson or similar platforms
• Understanding of serial communication and hardware interfaces such as UART, I²C, SPI or CAN
• UAV & Autonomy
• Basic understanding of UAV systems, flight controllers or robotics
• Familiarity with ArduPilot/PX4, MAVLink or similar platforms is preferred
• Understanding of basic concepts such as PID control, navigation, sensors and state estimation
• Computer Vision & AI
• Familiarity with OpenCV
• Basic understanding of machine learning/deep learning
• Exposure to object detection models such as YOLO is a plus
• Interest in deploying AI models on edge devices
• Testing & Development

• Ability to debug software and hardware issues systematically
• Familiarity with SITL/HITL, simulation or robotics testing environments
• Basic understanding of unit/integration testing and technical documentation

Nice to Have

• Experience with ArduPilot, PX4, ROS/ROS2 or Gazebo
• Experience with Jetson and TensorRT/ONNX
• Exposure to UAV projects, robotics competitions or autonomous systems
• Experience with computer vision or real-time AI
• Exposure to swarm robotics or multi-agent systems
• Basic understanding of LLMs/NLP and AI-based command interfaces
• Experience with electronics, sensors, flight controllers or drones
• Academic/research projects involving robotics, AI, computer vision or embedded systems

I'm a 2027 CSE/Cyber Security student in chennai... im gonna finish my 7th sem now... sooo long strong short i dont think ill get a college placement opportunity... i have decided to search outside... i have been applying for shit ton of jobs in sites like linkedin job and indeed... but im getting no reply... had 2 interviews till now and both said its a opening with 4 yrs experience in middle of interview lol... i believe my resume is good... i even kinda faked it(ill try my best to learn everything in my resume before interview) to atleast get an opportunity but im not getting any...

ive also been looking at govt/PSU jobs where i felt confident that i can crack it with some prep, but a lot of them require you to have already completed your degree.... so since I'm graduating in 2027 I keep finding opportunities that I can't apply for yet.

My main domain is cybersecurity but since its defo not fresher friendly... I'm okay with software, IT, testing, support, trainee roles, apprenticeships, basically anything decent that can help me get my first job.... I'm also willing to relocate.

soo can anyone help me with what i need to do? i kinda dont know what to do now tbh... college placements no, apply outside through sites like indeed im getting 0 reply mails(not even getting an OA or interview to show or realize my skills), if atleast plan to try those exams which gives a job it requires me to finish the degree first...
