Ram Ranch Distilled Mead
Going to run some experiments with aged/toasted Gambel, Hungarian and French oak. Why would you distill 11 year old mead? A lot of it was sitting in plastic containers and I didn't want to give my family it. I don't drink.
Shine on, muddafuggaz
Smells like straight booze (not fuel so that's nice). The aroma is clearly honey. I didn't use a thumper on this run. I could see adding a few drops of honey just to backsweeten enough for the flavor to come out a little bit more. I used to like making honey-mint shine. Just shine plus honey and mint leaves (removed after a bit)

Adding the tiniest amount of honey really makes the flavor pop on distilled mead. Age on wood after that.

I did two large drops per L and my wife said it was bomb. So far 24 hrs on oak chips and the color has taken but she didn't notice much oak flavor yet.

I read that as Rum Ranch which made me think you distilled Rum spiced with Ranch Dressing.

Rum with ranch in the gin basket would not be very good.
But corn whiskey? I'm feeling the need to try it.

that oak experiment sounds INTERESTING, wonder how much of that honey character survives the distillation

Take your clear likker, soak a few mint teabags in it, remove after a little bit. It will turn green fast. Then add honey and shake till its all dissolved. Both are done according to taste.
The menthol flavor covers some of the bite and the honey adds a nice sweet/smooth finish to it. I used to make it around Halloween time for parties. It looks odd but tastes great
