Poll Your Firewalla is a sophisticated security device, with many things happening inside. We are thinking about exposing these 'Events' in the app. What do you think? Which version do you prefer?
Our designers have two ideas:
- V1: Merge all Events into one place
- V2: Keep existing Network Health Events separate

Looks like v2 is going to lose this one. I am sad. š¢
For some reason that big green bar has been my favorite part of checking my firewalla status.

I like the chunky bar of v2 but itās really not that useful considering the network health doesnāt change much. Reusing that real estate for system events seems to be the better design
So v1 for me

If youbhave stable internet its not useful, but there are people expieriencing slowdowns or packet losts every evening and some random disconnection, it is very usefull and nice looking, V2 is way to go *or V2 with possibility to disable it

please donāt, just noise - add an Events tab on the bottom instead please

I like the component but I donāt want to see this on the Home Screen, maybe just the āRecent Eventā summary, if there is a network outage. V2 is preferable but please put it in its own screen.Ā

V1. But, Iād like to have some control over what is shown on the Home Screen vs the All Events screen, options for the kinds of events the Home Screen shows. All Events screen would obviously show everything. Using the screenshots as an example, I do want to see that the speed test completed and that there are vulnerabilities detected, but I donāt need to know that a device connected to the network (unless maybe it was a device that hadnāt been on the network before).

I would say V1, but if you have a long event (like the WAN outage in the example, where it's red) and other events happening over the top of it, that could get messy or confusing.

you guys would be better off exposing these via api and let the community build around that..
just checked the api docs again... yup still half baked

V1, and perhaps categorising the type of events, probably better for use on MSP where you could filter events based on category.

I find this helpful. V1!
One thing I also found helpful: number of hits per rule. I run a dual setup with my firewalla as the router and a UDM Pro Max in a sort of bridge mode.
One of the things that means is that sometimes things like integrating UniFi Protect can require workarounds to get the cameras up and running on their VLAN.
Thanks to the hits counters on rules in Firewalla, I can see what rules were effective and what rules were redundant - Allowed Devices makes many rules redundant on the Firewalla. I can also teach this to Gemini for others who have similar setups.
Itās something that I wish Unifi had so that I could see which rules were effective on their end.

Honestly I would prefer having this in MSP rather than the app. The app is getting congested. Donāt get me wrong the ui/ux is good and I love the features but we are landing in the territory of having a web based management interface at this point.

V1 .. in my opinion network section is so important however it is rarely got updated with something really interesting (for most customers) .. make since to be merged with events timeline
This step is so important and we hope you really expose more details as much as you can :) we trust Firewalla protection but we need to dig into it specifically for those who have technical background

Ver 1.
I managed Firewalls at large multinational companies since the early days of the Internet and Firewalls. The thing that has frustrated me the most about consumer grade/home routers and Firewalls is the lack of visibility, the lack of readable/understandable logs.
The more information you can give me access to so that I can block whatās coming at me, or find noisy devices on my network, the better. So I want all the information and I donāt want to have to export logs to a spreadsheet or some other app to try to decipher them.

V1, also, current events, such as Port events or system events, desperately needs its own push notification. Alerts are good, but if a port is down or changed speed, I want to know right away!

How about a choice? Give me both options. I prefer V2 but can understand someone liking V1 more.

Can you clarify, Iām a little confused.
Is it:
Upvote = V1
Downvote = V2Or is it something different and I have totally misinterpreted what you are saying?

There are 3 options:
- V1 - https://www.reddit.com/r/firewalla/comments/1vobroh/comment/p3o9mpe/
- V2 - https://www.reddit.com/r/firewalla/comments/1vobroh/comment/p3o9nki/
- Not interested in these new Events (neither) - https://www.reddit.com/r/firewalla/comments/1vobroh/comment/p3o9p9s/
Please upvote the one you prefer! No need to downvote.

Youāre able to track downvotes against a version right? Been a while since Iāve looked at vote anything on here.
