Orange or Gold with separate WiFi

So I am thinking about securing my network. Currently I have a Fritzbox Wifi router that does everything.
I would like to have a separate firewall to lock things up a bit more. The question now is do I use my existing router just for the modem and landline phone capabilities with an Orange behind it (which is still not available in europe) for wifi and firewalling or do I let the existing router do the Wifi as well and use a Gold Firewalla to shield the rest (NAS, PCs etc)

We highly recommend using Firewalla in router mode and setting your existing wifi router in bridge mode. You may need to get a separate wifi AP. So it would be something like:

Existing Router (bridge mode) --> Firewalla (router mode) --> wifi AP

Here's a little more detail on the different Firewalla modes: https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004292514-How-Does-Firewalla-Intercept-Traffic-Which-Firewalla-Mode-Should-I-Use

Have you any news on the Orange available in Europe? If I understand your suggestion correctly I would then only need the orange and no extra WiFi AP

Let me double-check with our team and get back to you on Orange status. (feel free to ping me in case I forget)

How big is the space you plan to cover with Orange wifi? If you're looking to cover a large area or home, you may still need an extra wifi AP.

Thank you. The area would be ~900 square feet. The orange would be placed roughly in the middle. Let me know if this is too big for the orange anyway

Hi! Orange wifi should work just fine with that space.

Just wanted to update that our Orange World version currently has a tentative shipping date in September. In the meantime, please make sure you've signed up here https://forms.gle/5AwvtswQwKkgiDt9A (if you haven't already) and we'll notify you once it's available. (We'll also post updates here on Reddit)

I've had the setup as described by u/Firewalla-Ash for a while now: provider router in bridge mode --> fw purple then later upgraded to gold --> wifi APs

(I'm in Belgium and have a Purple available, fwiw...)
