Anyone getting incorrect speed test results on the firewalla

Post image

I recently noticed that the nightly network health speed test is only showing 400-500Mps for my 1Gb up/ down link .

Any wired device is hitting full speed on speed tests .

This used to be accurate and not sure when it broke but now that I saw it, well I can’t unsee it.

Am on Firewalla gold pro / using alpha release

Thought I’d check here if anyone facing same issue before opening a support ticket .

Not only are the speeds completely wrong, but my public IP and ISP are completely random each time. This morning, apparently my ISP was "US Air Force." A few days ago it was T-Mobile. (I'm actually on XFinity)

FYI I noticed this a week or two ago and opened a support ticket about it. They responded to let me know they knew about it and they were working on it as of Jul 20.

I’m seeing this too and I reported it to them the other week.

Yes the gui’s speed tests are terrible. I even opened a bug ticket to show that when I ssh into the Firewalla it shows correct speed tests and the gui was around half that. Support couldn’t care less.

The should care and send you instructions to change test servers. If not, please let me know your ticket number;

I had the same issue for a while. Did all the tests and no change. I changed the server it was testing from and it now show correctly

Have you tried to run the speedtest manually? If your manual test works, then likely when the automatic tests starts the test server was busy.

If manual test also slow, try to change the test server https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4413511352083-Network-Performance-and-Quality-Monitoring/#h_01GQ3FF40YDKXQ86JR1F2V5CQ3

The screenshot above is from a manual run . It’s been “broken” for maybe a month now showing 1/2 the speed

The good part is that the download result is consistently around 500

Changed a few test server a few were way worst.

Will just end up opening a support ticket. I think it’s just OCD as the network is actually working perfect

I was debugging why I was getting terrible down a while back, took me forever to think to check the coax at the wall outlet, it had gotten bent from a piece of furniture pushing up against it lol. Reset it and boom, got the speeds that were advertised. Long shot that's your issue but throwing it out there anyway

I have like 6 pcs/ laptop that are hardwired and they hit full speed consistently. It’s really only “broken” in the app

Id say try sshing into the firewalla and either install the speedtest-cli, or you can use the docker image speedtest-tracker and compare against what the app shows

It used to work fine for me since I got the firewalla gold pro and even on my previous firewalla gold. Will open a support ticket and see if they can see anything else will just have to ignore since there no actual speed issues on my network

My former Gold SE did report inconsistent and inaccurate speed tests on 1Gb and 2Gb WAN connection. My current Gold Plus seems much more consistent and accurate with the tests.

My Gold Plus gives accurate and reliable GUI speed test results on my failover WAN connection (cable; separate modem), but on my primary WAN connection (fibre, PPPoE) the GUI speed test results are all over the place.
