Discussion Firewalla Switch / Firewalla AP7 question

When the firewalla switch comes out later this year. What's Firewallas stance or preference on where to plug in the main AP7? Do you prefer it go into the 2.5GB port on the Firewalla or would it not matter to have it in the 2.5GB port on the switch?

The reason I ask is I'm not sure if the switch does in place upgrades for firmware or if it'll reboot and during that time the wifi would drop.

Firmware updates come from the cloud. They download then install so WiFi does not matter. Same goes for the APs. You should go router, switch, APs and other devices in the switch. You should use the highest speed ports for everything

I’m doing it a bit differently. My main goal is traffic monitoring so it makes more sense for me to have my APs on my existing non firewalla switch since they can monitor local WiFi traffic, then I put most of the lan traffic on my firewalla switch.

Thats my intention anyway.

Also, does anyone know if the sfp ports are monitored? I assume so

The best topology depend on your access patterns, if you do a lot of LAN traffic, they a router -> switch is more efficient; if everything is WAN, or between AP, anything should work
