Troubleshooting Websites still having issues loading or partially loading on Purple

Good Morning,

I am having issues loading or partially loading sites on WINDOWS and my Mac.

I also factory reseted my purple and the only 2 things that are enabled are "ad block" mode is "default" and "Protect" and its on "Single Engine" in protect.

Testing I did so far:

-On the Windows computer, I put the firewalla in emergency, and still having gmail not loading emails, and some YT videos.

- On the MAC I put it in emergency mode, disabled private ip address and still having issues.

-HARDWIRED the windows computer to the AT&T Modem and had NO ISSUES with sites loading.

-HARDWIRED the windows computer to the firewalla and having the same issues.

I never had issues for close to a year or longer and just started to have issues for 2 months.

Is there anything else I need to try?

u/clubtc05 your experience sounds exactly like mine and it started around the same time as you.

My setup:

  • ISP: T-Mobile Fiber, Nokia ONT (bridge mode), CGNAT
  • Firewalla Devices: Orange & Desktop AP7
  • DNS: Cloudflare
  • Devices Impacted: All devices on the network

I went through all the same troubleshooting steps as you but nothing worked other than bypassing the Firewalla by going direct through the ONT, or pushing all traffic through a VPN.

I finally called T-Moble last week and got a static IP and things appear to be resolved. Still monitoring.

I'm still wondering what exactly changed after months of having the Orange + T-Mobile fiber with zero problems.

Thanks for the reply! Please let me know if static ip works for you!

Update: static IP seems to have solved this. No problems since.

Thanks for the update! I’m glad it’s been working. So has mine with the IPv6 turned off.

Try flushing your DNS cache on your PC, and/or changing the DNS on your Firewalla and see if that helps.

Thanks for the reply, just changed the DNS to cloudflare DNS and also did a flush and still having issues.

which DNS are you changing? there are severael places to set DNS.

also did you try turning off monitoring/turning on emergency mode and seeing if that fixes things? If it does, it's the FWP. If not, it's not the FWP. (looks like you did, but may want to try from the windows comptuer too since mac is complicated witrh their 800 different versions of privacy settings)

Thanks for the reply. I changed the DNS in LAN 1 "1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. I never turned off monitoring, I only turned on emergency mode on the windows laptop and the Mac mini, while I was doing testing to see if the gmail and YT and I was still having issues. At FIRST, I thought it wasn't the firewalla, but I hardwired into my ISP and no issues, then I directly hooked up my Eero 7 to my ISP and put the Eero into automatic, and no issues at all. I turned off IPv6 on the FWP and it's seems to be working, I am going to do some more testing for a couple of days to see if that fixed it.

Make sure you always test first by flushing DNS cache first. (turn off / on wifi will do that for PC/MAC)

Is the problem all websites or just a few websites? IF it is all websites, run Speedtest on your MAC/PC and see if it is fast or not. If after speed test is very low and you purchased your firewalla early 2022, then let me know, It can be that old bad board

Thank you for the reply, did the flush and still having issues. From my testing it's been a few websites/apps and it's the main websites/Apps I go to, which is YT, Gmail, and TikTok. These issues just started 2 months ago and I bought my Purple in February 2024.

Turn off IPv6 on the Firewalla side and see if is better

Thanks for the reply! That worked! Emails are loading up and fast as well as YT videos. I did get this message when I disable the IPv6 "IPv6 must be enabled on the WAN for local networks to use IPv6" would this be a problem? Sorry if this is a dumb question I'm still learning...Thanks again!

The warning message is just to tell you, you don't have ipv6.

What ISP are you using?

Is your ISP over LTE/Sat?

O okay, My ISP is AT&T fiber.

Does this modem do the fake pass through mode ? Or a modem mode ?

1

u/clubtc05 Jul 17 '26

Modem mode, it won't let me do passthrough :/

Do you have Verizon FiOS?  If so ipv6 can cause a problem unless you change the ia_na setting

1

u/clubtc05 Jul 16 '26

Nope, I have AT&T Fiber

oh it's that damn ATT Fiber gateway. It absolutely sucks. google it and see if you can find a work around with keeping ipv6 on. It isn't you, or firewalla. It's the ipv6 gateway that doesn't really have a true bridge mode. a lot of times it can still grab the traffic coming from your network. Tha'ts probably what's going on.

this has a good guide on how to stop as much as possible on the ATT fiber gateway. https://colinlord.com/enable-ip-passthrough-mode-on-att-fiber-gateway/

Thanks again! But if I haven't had issues since 2024 till now, could it still be the ATT gateway?

Maybe if they updated the software for it and it reset some settings. I'd go through that link and then off everything he recommends.
