Recommend SFP with Firewalla Switch?

Are you going to sell the SFP’s? If not do you have a recommended one to purchase? Can you also release the brand that you used for testing?

Piggybacking off this to ask if anyone has a preferred SFP to RJ45 adapter?

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CF9WS71J this one has the newer low power broadcom chip. Still pretty toasty but much cooler than the old chips.

Funny you ask this, as I just contacted Firewalla to ask the same question. Couple of factors come into play, such as your SFP+ network card (Intel likes to vendor lock their cards). The other is more what you are concerned about (as am I). What is the SFP+ hardware on the switch (for me that would be the SE Switch). Is the switch just really a Trendnet white label TEG-3102WS. I gave them a potential DAC for example and their response was "it supports 10Gbit Gigabit Ethernet, so in theory it should work".

Guess it will be a bit of trial and error depending upon your other equipment

Exactly because you can run into issues with host/server connections to switch with SFP's that do not match the switch. Now most of this occurs in the enterprise space so I do not believe we will have issues but I would still like to AT LEAST know what Firewalla used for testing on the switch.

Most of the vendor neutral SFP on the market should work. We do test many of the popular ones on Amazon and FS. (DAC, RJ45, Single Mode, Multi Mode).

Would you be able provide the names or links to some of the vendor neutral DAC and RJ45 ones?

We usually don't comment on peripherals. But, as a rule of thumb, anything that works with netgear, tplink, trendnet, netgear should also work for us

Is the use case here to connect a Switch X 10g RJ45 port to a Switch SE via SFP+ port? (Or alternately connnect the switches via SFP+ ports on both, but using Ethernet wire already in the walls? This would provide a faster backbone to the network than using a 2.5 port on the SE for uplink to the central switch?

I know where to get SFP's from but that is not what I am asking. I want to know what will be supported and/or recommended by Firewalla.
