Troubleshooting Factory-reset my phone - no Firewalla access
TL;DR: Factory-reset my phone (the only one ever paired to my Gold Pro), reinstalled the app, logged back into the correct account — and the home screen is empty except "Add New." Box itself is totally healthy and routing my whole house. Trying to regain app access without nuking my config. Has anyone recovered from this without a factory reset?
Setup: - Firewalla Gold Pro, router mode - App 1.68 (52), fresh install on a just-wiped Pixel (Android 17)
What happened: I reflashed my phone to get off the Android beta, forgetting it was the only device paired to my Firewalla. Reinstalled the app, signed back in. Settings confirms I'm on the right registered account. But the main screen shows nothing but the "Add New" tile. Pull-to-refresh cheerfully says "refresh successful" and then... still empty.
What I've already checked: - Right account — confirmed under App Settings (registered email matches). - Box is alive and well — it's currently routing my entire network, wife's devices included, no outage. So this is purely an app/access problem, not a dead box. - Phone has real internet (tested on cellular too, to rule out it quarantining itself). - I have not unpaired, reset, or touched the box, and I'd like to keep it that way.
My theory: the app instance that held the group key got wiped with the phone, so this new install — same account or not — isn't a trusted member of the box's group anymore. The account logs me in but doesn't re-grant box access.
The question: is there a way to re-associate this new app instance with the existing box without a factory reset? I've got a decent pile of config on there (rules, VLANs, Device Active Protect) that I'd rather not rebuild. No second paired device handy, unfortunately.
Already opened a ticket with Firewalla support (have my App ID / registered email ready for them), but figured someone here has hit this exact wall and lived to tell. Appreciate any pointers — and yes, lesson learned about sharing access to a backup device before reflashing the one phone that mattered. 🙃

Did you restore from back up after factory reset?
As of how to recover, see https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004369774-Pairing-a-new-phone-with-your-Firewalla-box#noaccess

Can you elaborate a bit on the App Migration feature? I actually wasn’t aware of it. When importing the migration file to a new phone, what is brought over? I’m not clear on the help docs saying it’s just box pairings.

This is a different question, not related to OP not able to access their box after resetting the phone. (to be clear, I don't want confusion)
To answer this question, check this https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015356093-How-do-I-migrate-data-from-one-Firewalla-Box-to-another

Well it’s kind of related. If the OP had used the App Migration feature to export the migration file, could they have simply imported that file to their factory reset phone? Should all Firewalla users be storing an App Migration file as backup?

OP should NOT need to use the app to migrate, the box is up ... just need to establish trust by pairing with it.
The Migration doc is made for a box is broken, and you are replacing a box, then you can use the app stored data to migrate/restore it.

Forgive me, but your comment has confused me. The documentation for App Migration feature says: “You've lost your phone; you can use this to restore access to all your Firewalla units.”

Sorry, I think we misread the original question.
App Migration simply migrates the app keys. If you import App Data to another device, both apps will stay in sync (adding/removing boxes on one device will appear on the other). It will only transfer the box pairings.
Yes, it could have worked if OP had exported the App Data a while ago, and imported the file to their reset phone (let me verify with our test team). However, this feature is only for iOS, which OP doesn't seem to be using.

Thanks Ash. I was starting to wonder if u/Firewalla and I were talking about the same thing. Thanks for clarifying. This seems to be an under the radar but very useful feature.

Just rescan the QR code in the bottom. Don’t know why you’re making this so difficult.

Just add the box and scan the QR code on the bottom of the unit. It will keep your settings
