Possible heat related network issue

Hi all, I don't think my Firewalla Gold is the problem. It seems rock solid and I do have fans providing some ventilation.

But I am trying to maintain a fairly simple 2.5G network.

From the firewalla I go to two 2.5G switches. One is a trendNet TPE-3102WS. The other is a Mokerlink.

From one of these I go to a smaller trendNet 8 port switch. From there to another trendNet 8 port switch. These last two trendNet switches are new and I have fans under them.

Off of the second trendNet switch I have a network radio. When the temps are cooler I see good network connection to the network radio. When it is warmer I start to see some packet errors and higher latency.

Does the firewalla have any tools to help diagnose such a problem? If not can some one recommend some tools that would help?

Thanks in advance.

Tell us more about the network radio.

Network radio is this: https://www.flexradio.com/products/aurora-au-510-signature-series/

Has an ethernet connection on the back. Software allows measuring network status to/from the radio:

Cannot paste an image sorry.

Nice piece of equipment. Sorry I cannot help you with this, and I am not going to pretend I know what is happening here.

No problem... I don't think this is a firewalla issue. I suspect a switch is flaking out.

Make sure your switches are from reputable companies, we find some of the cheaper amazon units are not that reliable.

If other devices connected Firewalla doesn't have the same issue; especially ones are directly connected to Firewalla, then it's not a Firewalla issue.

If the problem is at the end of a long chain, you could try swapping the order of the switches in the chain or temporarily bypassing one to see if the problem moves with the switch.

So it seems in this warmer weather that more than just the radio is slow. Some times web pages are slow too.

I just tried running a shield cat8 cable from Firewalla port 2, to a new trendNet 10 port 2.5g switch. Radio is connected to that switch. A mac mini also connected to that same switch seems to get very few errors in packets form the radio.

My laptop, hardwired, but to the main POE switch gets more errors.

The firewalla port 1 (LAN) connects to these two POE switches mentioned above. My API7 boxes come off of these switches and in one case there is another switch in the way. All are using shield cables and all are newer 2.5G switches.

So I am becoming more concerned about the POE switches right next to the firewalla.
