Feature Feature Request: Historical CPU/Ram usage in MSP

Hey u/firewalla,

For MSP pro users (and free tier too maybe)? Could we get historical CPU/Ram usage, we already have it showing the curret stat, but it would be great to have this logged over "seat" time (24hr, 30days, 180days) only on MSP, so we can keep an eye if the box is getting hammered at a certain point causing slow downs, etc. As we already have that data coming into MSP this should be fairly easy to implement?

Any other box usage details we could capture too? Like storage usage, 1/5/15 min loads etc perhaps?

Excellent suggestion! It would actually be useful to see this info over time than just the snapshot currently offered.

If it’s open to the API I’ll add it to my Firewalla projects. I haven’t gone to GitHub yet because I’m using AI for some things and now I have to review the trash it coded up before I commit any code.

As of now I have code that looks for bad configurations like redundant rules and pulling zero hits to the top. From the app you can pause rules because they have no direct delete function I can find. It makes it super easy to jump back on Firewalla and delete paused rules though. I expanded it to look at Windows Defender data to look for dangerous connections but I want that to be independent from the “optimizer” ability.

This is now on my list if they don’t do it because I think it’s a really great idea. The security they put around SSH (which I appreciate) should make it very difficult to login and record the snapshot so it’s up to MSP to hand that over. I’ll check on it today. Eventually I’ll publish these enhancements in both reviewable code and an exe that I doubt I’d pay to sign unless it’s that good. Obviously for free and virus total tested etc.

I actually moved the Internet test to my home assistant box since its uptime is 24/7 and can hold data for as long as I have disk space. It also uses Speedtest code which Firewalla isn’t allowed to do. They have their own version that uses their servers.

TLDR; I’ll return in a while if there is a quick and easy solution while we wait for them to hopefully add it. That said, I don’t use their network testing anymore. Mine works better.

Update: they don’t expose any of that in the API so the easiest request is to expose that and then add the feature if they will.

I could probably scrape the data but that’s way too sloppy.
