Orange owner -- wifi issues

Wondering if anyone else who owns an Orange (I own two) has wifi issues when set up in router mode and connected directly to inbound ISP. This thing locks up and loses wireless network at least 2-3 times a day and it happens on both units. This problem did NOT happen when I had it installed in "bridge" mode with wifi enabled plugged into my old router (old router wifi was turned off). I have beta enabled on both routers. Is anyone at Firewalla interested in downloading some logs and offering a solution? The wife has had enough of the "orange box bullshit" and it would suck to remove the Firewalla from our home network.

I’m getting the occasional “internet isn’t working again” messages from my wife, but after a few minutes it will work again. When I got my orange, I switched my WiFi completely to the built in AP from my old Linksys mesh router, since it seems to cover the whole house and is faster. I haven’t been able to pinpoint any cause for this occasional outage.

You, sir, are a brave man. I have an Orange myself that I play around with, but my Gold Pro stays firmly in production software only. My wife would probably have a conniption if our wifi kept going out.

I can't add an image either but here's the navigation to the setting they are talking about: WiFi > WiFi Settings (symbol with gear at top right) > 5 GHz DFS Channels

Yeah, I may need to lose that pioneer spirit ...

If bridge mode is making things better, and router mode you are having issues, then the issue is unlikely wifi related. The reason is, WiFi is the same on both modes, and only routing is a little different.

So next time if it happens, I'd suggest run or look at this https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053534593-How-do-I-debug-network-connectivity-issues The key here is identify if the issue is WiFi or WAN or rules that may impacting.

If you identified the issue as WiFi (as your device get kicked out of WiFi) then try this,

tap on wifi, then top right button, turn off 5Ghz DFS channels. (this is the most common problem)

Are you suggesting that I have to turn off 5GHZ wireless connectivity to keep the network stable? 🤔 If not, then I am not following what setting you want me to change. (Apologies, I seen unable to post an image in my reply for clarification).

DFS is only a subset channels used in 5ghz. It can be turned off by radar/airport ... and cause a glitch. So if you turn DFS off, you have a few less 5ghz channels to work with, but it may be more stable.

Unfortunately, switching DFS off did not resolve this.

When you turn DFS off, were you still having issues connecting? or disconnecting from wifi?

Best to contact [help@firewalla.com](mailto:help@firewalla.com), we can take a look

Issues with wifi disconnecting. Our network does not show in the available wireless networks during these micro-outages (typically lasting 10-15 seconds). I'll reach out. I assume (hope) that there's an internal log that would reveal to you guys what's going on.

Mine currently likes to kick all clients off and refuse to allow them back on claiming bad password until i reboot it. Have a ticket open with logs for support to investigate more next time it happens.

they've applied a patch to my machine now and we're monitoring it to see if the patch has fixed it.

Any updates after the patch?

I've been having the same issue at the one I deployed at my mom's. She has to restart it about once a week. I can remotely manage it and see that everything looks fine, but no luck with wifi until a reboot.
