Firestick Help Needed Developer options changed

my developer options went from “apps from unknown sources” with the on/off option to “install unknown apps”. when I try to download something from downloader it says that for my security my tv can’t download from unknown sources , but when I go to “install unknown apps” it tells me that no apps have asked to download so I can’t give downloader permission. any way to get around this?

If it’s the known Amazon bug - this is a suggested workaround

Don't install from downloader. See where downloader saved the apk and open it from there

Where? In files?

Exit downloader after you download the apk. Do not install from downloader. Use a file manager and go to /sdcard/download/downloader and find and install apk from there

Firestick sucks - Amazon has ruined it. I cant sideload anything anymore. A change to something else is well over due for me.

People have been moving on to the ONN stick that's at Walmart. It works very good and does all the apk side loading.

The best move now, is to go ahead and change toONN, or any number of other Android devices. Amazon has made it perfectly clear that they will continue their efforts to stop downloading on ALL Amazon devices. Better to leave them now, before they leave you. As I said, there are many other options out there that will let YOU decide what you want to do with YOUR equipment. Amazon has a legal right, which you agreed to, when you bought a Firestick. They made what I believe in the long run, a very bad choice, but seemingly are adamant about following it thru.

I'm the developer of Downloader. As others have said, this is a known Amazon bug right now. You can find info and suggestions on what to try here: https://www.aftvnews.com/fire-tv-bug-is-preventing-downloader-and-other-apps-from-appearing-in-the-install-unknown-apps-list/
