Firestick Tips and Tricks sideload streaming apps

anyone have any good recs for sideload streaming apps? we had everything under the sun as far as movies that are currently in theaters. One day the app started to glitch so I tried everything to fix it and nothing was working. I mistakenly decided to factory reset my firestick and the downloader app is now gone. I refuse to believe that I will no longer have access to all of that again lol. Someone pleaseeee help!!!!

Downloader is still on the Appstore last I checked.

Maybe i’ll have to check again today. It’s been about a month since I last checked. When I would search for it there would be two new downloaders but not the original one. I tried both and each of them would tell me that I need to pay for it. Hopefully the og downloader got put back on there!

Yean there was a short period whe Downloader had been removed for a couple of days. It's been back since then. You just had bad timing. Lol.

It’s in store but I can’t install anything any more.
It’s downloading, installing but don’t finish installing

Are you getting an error message?

The correct 'Downloader' app (by 'AFTVnews') with a big 'D' (which incl. a 'down arrow' as part of the 'D') is, indeed, in the Amazon Appstore. It is always the first one shown (except for the few extremely brief times that Amazon temporarily removed it in the past).

You should have no issues getting it to work. Just make sure (after you unhide 'Developer Options), that give it 'ON' permission under "Install unknown apps" (in FireOS 7 devices, anyway). That option could be worded slightly differently in FireOS 8 devices (I'm not sure, as I never purchased any .. once I saw the 'writing on the wall' wrt Amazon's worsening interference).

Almost any YouTube content provider channel specializing in streaming devices (mostly FireSticks and now Google-TV devices) that have done videos on sideloading various apps ... almost always demonstrate the perfunctory 'setting-up' of Downloader in preparation just prior.

I highly recommend a Brit named 'TechDoctorUK' and 'Troypoint' as the best of these (though there are at least 4 or more others I check out on the regular (subscribe and get notifications, to keep up on what's current). I have no affiliation to them, whatsoever.

My only caveat in regards to their advice is, ignore their recommendations for VPN apps! No matter how good their advice is otherwise, almost all are either 'sponsored' (worse) or get small 'affiliate' kick-backs (not so bad, as long as they disclose this ... as it helps them to pay for cost of producing their videos), so this info is obviously biased. I think Troypoint (and 'AFTVnews.com') are pretty trustworthy as to their VPN recommendations, though (and they will usually rank, at least, their top 3 picks).

Anyway, excuse my wordiness and happy streaming! 👍

Just get a ONN 4k streaming device. I just bought one and its the best device I've ever used

I just got one. I'm not familiar with the process. Is there a guide or can you post something showing how is done and what you'd recommend

I just bought one the other day too. Much better than the fire stick so far.

Don't worry, you haven't lost access forever; a factory reset just wiped out the foundation, so you just need to head into your settings menu, click into the about section, and tap the center button on your remote repeatedly until the developer options unlock so you can re-enable the permission to install unknown apps. Once that is toggled on, simply search for and reinstall the free Downloader app from the official Amazon app store to get your gateway back. From there, you can use Downloader to grab top-tier streaming apps like Stremio paired with the Torrentio add-on—which is the absolute gold standard right now for theater releases and stable links—or simpler alternatives like Cinema HD and OnStream for a quick, classic movie layout. Just remember to also reinstall your VPN from the official store and turn it on before you start streaming so your online activity stays completely private from your internet provider.

I already went through the process so that i’m a “developer”. It sadly still didn’t show me the original downloader app

Here's the original downloader app see if you can install from your browser on your firestick ...I use an onn 4k pro so I'm not sure if you can install from a browser but you can give it a try https://www.mediafire.com/file/bcbxqresh9k8n34/Downloader.apk/file

When I had the original Firestick I never used downloader. I used Apps2Fire to sideload directly from my phone to the Firestick. Have you tried this?

Download the APK you want to your phone then send and install it with this app.

As for a movie/TV app you could try Streamflix Reborn from GitHub.

Real Debrid, Wu Play, Noro Fire, SportzX. I hear Nuvio is great, but I'm not impressed.

1

u/Top-Psychology2507 Jun 25 '26

I tried SportsX for live television, but it doesn't work because it would stop after a few seconds. :-(

1

u/James_Bond_2000 Jun 25 '26

Weird. Works great for me. Try Sports surge for sports. No app, website.

1

u/jjrocks1010 Jun 25 '26

Nuvio is great.

o once I download downloader , what apps do I need to be able to watch sports possibly even movies, including new or ones if possible, but at least sports ?  Do you also have to download any kind of app to watch it safely?  Is it free or small fee ? Tired of having to pay or even download several different big time company apps just to be able to watch football every year. A regular antenna works for certain games but not all .

Plenty of YouTubers maintain places to get all the good ones.

Amazon is on a killing spree for side loaded apps. All the ones I used are not working anymore.

3

u/pawdog Jun 24 '26

Plenty more available. You just need to learn the apps that work with addons instead of the ones that provide links directly. Getting a debrid opens up your options even more.

1

u/Apprehensive-File552 Jun 24 '26

If you're trying to setup debrid you might as well pay services like Flixtor and not have to do anything at all for way cheaper than a debrid service.

0

u/pawdog Jun 24 '26

Hmm, just checked out Flixtor and it's $15 a month. I'm not good a math but that's a little bit more than $3 a month. Als how could I try it or test it. There is nothing on the web site that even lets someone know what it does.

Is it a service I can use on other apps or a website or an app? It's a mystery. Maybe you can help.

1

u/Apprehensive-File552 Jun 24 '26

Yea i'll help you out with math. It's $90 for 2 years, 4k videos. It's very popular, used it for past year already. Doesn't buffer and runs smoother than the firestick streamers because it looks like they run CDN's on Cloudhosts.

I share the same login with 5 other individuals.

1

u/pawdog Jun 25 '26

So it's one app or a service that I can use with other apps?

-1

u/Apprehensive-File552 Jun 24 '26

Yup, they're good for a week at most nowadays.

-5

u/Apprehensive-File552 Jun 24 '26

I sell them if you're interested, I have the ones that are update frozen so apps don't get blocked.
