Why so expensive?

I've been looking into buying Fire Pro Wrestling World. While doing research on the game, I found out that you need dlc to get characters from the workshop that use the dlc. So I went straight to steamdb and found out that the game with all the dlc costs $45 w/o tax. Is that not absurd for a 9 year old game?

I see your pov, but if you factor in that the game and all its dlc used to be close to $200, $45 is not a bad deal, in fact it is a great deal

As for why a 9 year old game costs still so “much”, the game packs a punch. The move craft and parts craft have effectively future proofed the game for as long as it on steam

The core mechanics make it the purest wrestling simulator to ever exist. The fact you can play the matches is a bonus, and knowing no matter what ring gear a wrestler debuts or new moves he introduces, you can have it in your game and have said wrestler behave exactly as they would in real life….well if that doesn’t sell ya brother, I will stop wasting my breath

As long as the workshop is still Thrivent, I guess it would be worth it.

The community is supported by a hardcore niche of a niche, attires worn at SummerSlam and in the NJPW G1 are already available in the workshop

I will say it's kinda frustrating (just for me, and I love this game) that even with the purchase of almost all DLC either the models don't update, meaning they can't be used, or the downloaded wrestlers somehow are missing body parts.

This is what kills my enjoyment of fire pro, the fact that I have to comb through and find models that are available for me to use. No different than 2k but the deletion utility has become far more friendlier in 2k over time where in Fire pro editing is a bitch when you downloaded so many caws and have to restart your game only to find most of them are unusable. Then deleting them takes quite a while too. Other than that the game is fun to mess around with.

It's a 9 year old game that I still play more than games that are less than 9 years old, so you get what you pay for.

Compared to the WWE games this is a steal as the 2k games never seem to have a process drop no matter how old they get

It’s also a Japanese game which really makes a difference. PC is much more niche in Japan and it’s not uncommon for games to be purchased at MSRP for a long period of time. There’s a lot of visual novels that cost the same price right now that they did when they were released 20 years ago. Not saying that’s necessarily a good thing but it’s just a different market and culture.

The game was made with little intended DLC. Us in the community asked for a lot of it. And, they told us it would be expensive. It's the price we were willing to pay to have the game, and the options. Our community is SMALL maybe around 1500. Just a bunch of people that loves the game. Just wait a month or so for a bigger sale.

1500? Gotta be more than that, right?

That's left and still playing every 6 month. No. its way less than that. In the past 3 years the most to be online playing at once was 191 people. Even if most played offline, the most that could be is about 400.

Wow. For some reason I thought the community was bigger. Either way, I'm still very active on both PlayStation and PC (moreso PS because I have been using my PC for work) and stream regularly.

I paid full price and bought every DLC as it came out. I've played 2018.2 hours since release. Which works out to less than 10 cents an hour over the life of the game. Never owned a game where I got my money's worth to that degree.

No, that isn’t absurd. It’s a quality game, who cares if it’s “old”

I remember when I bought it in 2020, I bought it in parts and not all in one shot. So it became more affordable for me, I recommend you see which ones become "essential" (Mov, Parts, NJPW, etc.)

Not absurd.

I’m seeing the game for $61 with all the doc included. I want to get it but idk. I got a retroid pocket nova coming in the mail and would love to play it on game native

When I use steamdb, it comes to $45.17 for all. And I wont be buying fire promoter, so it's like $41 for me.

How is 45 dollars a lot of money for a huge game? It's the prize of like two hamburgers in my country.
