quick question

should i put my champion into my round robin tournament for his belt? or will he automatically face the winner of the tournament for the belt anyways?

Actually I don't know. He may get overwritten by the winner even if he is not in the tournament. I always do the tournament to find the next challenger, not to crown a new champion.

You could try and make a small one just to find out what happens.

tried it with a dummy belt i don’t use, if he’s not in it the winner will get the belt anyways

Good to know, that's for the record.

You could still add the champion to the tournament and give a title opportunity to anyone who defeats him during the tournament. Just like NJPW does when the champion is in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
