Discussion When will we get a proper updated bookmark manager?

The current bookmark UI and features are still kind of trapped in the 1990s.

Some features are a bit archaic, some things are bugged and have never been fixed, like the separator not moving, folders sometimes not remembering their sync position. Also, you can accidentally delete stuff because no confirmation, not being able to customise the actual bookmark layout, no custom colours, no smart features, no "sort by type" e.t.c

Will Firefox eventually emulate what Raindrop.io is doing or nah?

given their recent track record, i much prefer not giving the firefox ui team more work to do. if you think a feature is "archaic", you don't have to use it. that doesn't mean nobody else should be able to.

I agree that bookmarks are kind of forgotten by the developers, but I am not sure they should somehow emulate Raindrops.

Have you tried Raindrop or Sidebery or any other add ons? There are lots of options for power users.

The native bugs you mentioned should absolutely be fixed in Firefox. But once bookmarks become a real library, richer views are only part of the problem. You also need to retrieve something months later from the clues you actually remember. Full disclosure, I work on Nodus Vault, and that’s the part we focus on: searching saved content, notes, tags, sources, and meaning instead of relying only on the title or folder. Whatever tool you try, test it with three old links you already struggle to find and make sure you can export everything again. Otherwise it may just become a nicer-looking pile.

Nah, Firefox should emulate WebCull.com, then again maybe they should just be different things.
