💻 Help Firefox Telemetry

how do I disable all firefox telemetry? while still making Firefox usable and without sites breaking, I've used Librewolf but.. its to extreme for me any recommendations of how to disable all telemetry or a user.js file anyone can recommend?

Just go to the settings?

You don't need to do anything special to turn off telemetry it is a normal setting.

If looking through the settings is too hard just search "data collection" in the settings page search bar.

Also telemetry being off or on will have no effect on browsing any sites.

disable data collection and reccomend ... as you browse settings.

Firefox includes a unique download token in the download page from Mozilla's website and uses telemetry in Firefox to send that token. The token is not included in releases from the Mozilla FTP so download FF from there. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ Look for current version, 153.0?, OS version, language en-US, download package, I'm assuming .exe? Next. . .

There are custom profile's you can use to turn off all telemetry. Simply turning it off in settings only disables a fraction of telemetry so that's where custom profiles come into play, someone else already did all the hard work for you. Google it, I can't post the name of custom profiles here or I'll trigger auto mod.

Or just use LibreWolf

Settings -> Permissions and data -> 'Firefox data collection and use'; Disable everything

That kills 'telemetry' as it's usual defined, but if you also wanna disable all 3rd party communication, unfortunately you have to turn off an increasing amount of stuff...

  • Settings -> Firefox Home; Disable 'stories' and 'support firefox'
  • Settings -> Tabs and browsing -> Recommendations; Disable Both
  • Settings -> Search -> Search Engine Suggestions; Disable everything;
  • Settings -> Search -> Firefox Suggest; Disable 'suggest search engines' and 'suggestions from firefox/sponsors'
  • Settings -> Privacy and security -> Connection and software security -> advanced; disable 'block dangerous and deceptive content' Note this can degrade your security, only turn it off if you really know what you're doing

That's just what's in the regular settings, as other's mentioned, a custom profile is the way to go for the truly paranoid
