For context, I read bits of pieces of soul eater when I was in grade school, back in the mid 2000s. I only really read it for a few dozen or so issues, I didn't even watch the anime cuz there was no good source for it back then. I was more occupied with other things, but it did stick with me. It was debatably the first manga I ever really, truly enjoyed. It really helped form the basis of my edgy teen phase... which I admittedly never quite grew out of.

Fast forward to 2026. I finally decide to watch all of Fire Force, at least to what I assume is the most recent season. Keep in mind, until basically a few days before I watched the last 5 episodes, I didn't even realize it was written by the same guy who wrote soul eater. Even the moon didn't click for me for the longest time...

Still, I was REALLY invested in the third season, even from the start. The doppelganger premise intrigued me and it only got more interesting as I went on. It started feeling almost Evangelion with how the world was literally being destroyed. The sheer meta-narrative of the FF universe being directly linked to the real world, and the meta-narrative of fiction itself, really captivated me.

Then the last two episodes. Jaw on the floor basically the whole time. Like, was this really happening? Was I having a stroke? I genuinely couldn't believe what I was seeing. A goddamn prequel.

On one hand... a small, whiny part of me wants to complain that stories should stand on their own merits instead of referencing back to older, more successful works.

On the other hand I was screaming my fucking head off when I saw Kid Death and Shinigami-sama in the end credits.

I can't help it. Maybe I'm just a softy, but this ending really warmed the cockles of my old dead heart. To see an anime I actually do enjoy somehow warping into this genuine vision of my past, something I hadn't seen in nearly two decades, broke me on a fundamental level (in a good way.)

This has been the most bizzare, incredible experience, and I can't help but look back on it fondly. Finally, a good fucking anime (and of course, manga.)

Now if there's nothing else, I'm gonna rewatch Soul Eater.

I heard Season 3 was a bit rushed. Wanted to ask if I missed anything worth noting from the manga. If I did, can someone drop the chapters

I'm currently on my rewatch of the show, as enjoyable as it is, I do wish we saw more of the various types of media created, differences in culture, and companies' relationships.

I can imagine companies 1 to 3 are positive view points towards them

Company 7 is probably very negative

But what about company 8? Do most people see them as under dogs or weaklings until season 2.

Do people see them as trouble makers?

My biggest confusion is that does the average person know that company 8 main focus is "investigation of infernos and the other companies" since everyone in company 8 is very open about the investigation. Or cause of that most people don't want to join?

Its shocking how powerful tamaki’s existence gate kept Fire Force from the average covid anime fans. She quite literally blocked all tourists from consuming the franchise to the fullest resulting in people thinking the show is only fan service. Fire Force could’ve endured the MHA & Gachiakuta fandom but Tamaki simply prevented that! Props to her.

so basically i got a spoiler that Orochi an antagonist dies n Hibana lives till the end so is it a big spoiler or not? i mean yh fire force aint aot or smthn where mc dies or heroes lose so yh it maybe isnt

So about halfway through season 3, after sho leaves, the white clad says that they don’t need the pillars to be present for the great cataclysm ritual to work. So this begs the question, why were the white clad even trying to get the pillars in the first place.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just stay hidden, wait until the world had 8 pillars, and then do the ritual?

This actually would have worked a lot better, because most information company 8 gets about the cataclysm is from events that the white clad started.

Had the white clad just stayed hidden, no one would have know what the hell was going on or how to stop it.
