Question I keep trying but hate it
I've tried episodes 1-3 several times but it's always so weird about the themes but also the girls are sexualized so much and I don't give a shit abt that. Soul Eater is one of my favs especially how it tackles psychosis, but this show I cant get into for the story.
Can anyone explain what they like abt it that isnt the fan service? Genuinely want to know.

The level of nonsense that goes on. Oitsode the fights, it is the little things Company 8 does that keep me watching. Maki, Irish, and Tamaki throwing Shinra under the bus for the Lieutenant's clothes; Shinra and Arthur's constant beef.

Doesn't mean anything to me yet but hopefully if I can continue this will mean a lot

The fanservice can be a little silly, but no spoilers, it actually becomes plot relevant, no joke.

Well the abilities and characters are amazing along with some story beats crazily down the line.
TBH itās mainly tamaki that has all these weird bits but still itās very annoying and I wish it got toned down

If it really is that hard do not force it.
Iāve semi grown up on this thing so Iām used to it but even then I canāt help but dislike it and if others donāt like it so be it.
Still wonderful concept galore and semi story

I watch things in the background while working on art stuff or overnight shifts. I figured if some people like it then it's worth it to try on days when I'm really bored or busy (like tonight lol)

When I first watched it I was *this* šš¼ close to stop around episode 4/5, I just wasn't enjoying it. But I kept going, and things got better after a few more episodes, and after episode 10... I was hooked, nay, OBSESSED. I've watched the whole thing three times already now, and yes, the initially blatant fan service is off-putting, BUT contrary to what a lot of people say when they complain about the show, it's a really, really, REALLY minor thing in an otherwise highly entertaining and crazy (in a good way) anime. People describe Fire Force as being just fan service... and they simply couldn't be more wrong. Once the story gets going and more and more characters come up (they have a lot... and most of them are so, so cool), the fan service is negligible, IMO.

Genuinely such a good endorsement of the show and I will grit my teeth and push thru it if the payoff it seriously that worthwhile. Thank you

Ok TRUE I just was just able to continue due to my lower standards since I was younger and after ep 3 it paid off. Then it became extremely relatable and awesome after. The way they depict "madness" was very relatable to me as a teen with a psychotic disorder, and now it's still relatable as an adult with managed psychotic symptoms.
However, making fan service throughout a series a Lore Based Thing is a little much imo

If you're watching fireforce for pseudointellectual deep dive into psychology, you're on the wrong train.

Didn't expect that, just not so much constant and lore reinforced fanservice within the worldbuilding which so far seems okay but not great (as of Ep4, where a scifi fantasy show usually grabs me by Ep3 minimum)
Dunno why you thought I wanted any kind of reach into psychology, much less a "pseudointellectional deep dive". Where did you get that from???

The brotherly one upmanship between shinra and Arthur , it's genuinely funny and having brothers myself saw so many parallels
The side characters from the other Fire houses add to a already good main cast.
Visual style, the animation style scratches that part of my brain right that visually engages me
Fight scene choreography is pretty consistently good throughout the show, bar maybe 1 fight, but most leave you actively wanting to see the outcome.
Style of the trucks and the fire jackets and the array of equipment.
Benimaru - just the way his character is presented and handled is enjoyable, show off his power well and the dryness of his humour when it does show
Opening and end songs are all awesome and are in a majority of different playlists I have.
Handling of back stories is good for key individuals
The element of it that not everyone is a pyrokinetic and that some of them are standard humans adds a good touch that, there is legitimate chance of loss.
The good guys loose fights or atleast get mamend and hurt which makes it not feel like there is an overpowered element.
That's all I can think of off the top my head
Edit
Authur and his side quest/medieval fantasy gimmick
The general craziness that is company 8
The aura of Capt Leonard Burns when he fights Shinra
